Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Farley now saying he won't accept botched launches.......

....as if he had nothing to do with the recent ones! Unbelievable. Where is the "buck stops here" leadership? So egotistical.

Isn't the failure to react to a chip shortage (like the cross-town rivals have done) a version of a botched launch? Failure to be nimble when that is your job.

I know an 88 year old retiree that just bought a Mustang GT. Stay in shape and getting in and out won't be an issue.

@2vlw+1f8HO728 Agree. Except I wouldn’t purchase a Mustang as it is wholly impractical. A Mustang was great in my teens and early 20s beyond that, it is simply not practical. Maybe when I am old and retired, but I doubt it as then it will become difficult to get in and out of.

I can honestly say, I would not buy any vehicle we build right now except for the regular mustang (not the mach-e), and maybe an Edge/MKX. The regular Mustang and Edge are matured since 2015 original launch and warranty wise, are pretty da rn good. Everything else we build? Truly are a disaster for quality.

Now here is the bad news: the Edge is going away and the Mustang is getting all new and launching soon. And you know how good our launches are getting (re: subject of this thread).

Quality starts at the top. Since we don't have leaders, nor top quality management at Ford, since it is more important to do DEI training and go to meetings that to actually do your job, since Ford kicked out the technical LL6s and the hardworking people... Why are we expecting miracles at the launches?

BTW, about all those recalls and botched launches, it is just going to get worse...

Yup, need to go way, way upstream to prevent botched launches. People would be shocked at the hundreds of late changes. Even worse is the quality of those patches as the engineers are really constrained that late in the program.

...and just like that, the old becomes new again. We used to call them flawless launches. Quality is Job 1.

So why are they accepted up to now?

Anyone else remember the slings and arrows campaigns when Joe was put over the bread and butter and Car-Car was put over futures and data.
They were never ending, oh if I were in charge the botches wouldn’t happen, as he sat over vapor and fumes with no tangible results or profit.
Oh how the chickens do come home to roost.
Another reason to purge us old timers, we know the history and where the bodies are buried.

Farley will be a great politician after his Ford stint. No accountability and playing to the press for sound bites. Need to go way upstream to have successful launches and find a new purchasing strategy along the way. Laughable.
