And I'm starting to wonder if even that is a good idea. From what I've heard, there is a real possibility it'll be significantly reduced for the next round of layoffs, although that's still in the realm of rumors. Until it's confirmed, I'll stay on. I don't want to lose out on a payout. Other than that, there's nothing keeping me here. Sad, but very much true.

If you have an job offer imminent, take it and don't wait for a payout. You never know when another offer will come through for you. And being unemployed is not fun. It IS easier to get another job when you already have one. Trust me on that.
Sad that you're willing to sacrifice your future and career for a few measly "potential" severance dollars. Amazing.
Can you get a better paying job? If yes then why wait for some measly payout.
If you want a break, garden leave, compensation, stay.
