Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Can Layoffs and cuts be far behind?

The numbers are out and so ugly just like Intels future prospects.

Margins are down as 10nm depreciation and poor yields impact the ramp. Price concessions as superior products from competitors erode any pricing upside. Capital spending is up, dividend is up, stock is down. Even a Mobileye spinoff won’t raise the cash Intel needs.

What is a BoD and CEO to do, cuts are all but inevitable and that means layoffs

What’s your prediction, I say by end of 2022 it will be time. Huge number of new hires, continued cost and margins from 10nm ramp, RD outlays for Intel4 and 20A, plus the construction costs for Arizona and Ohio. Let’s not forget AMD 5nm products will arrive forcing more price concession and margin depression.

The BoD will be forced to ACT.

Mid level managers don't bring any values compared to the compensations they receive. They don't make things easier for engineers to do their jobs but often create impediments instead. These managers are busy protecting their turfs rather than solving problems as One Intel.

No layoffs during PG tenure. He will sink intel to bottom.

Intel can definitely lose a ton of the middle management layers, those blood sucking leeches that drain resources without producing anything of value, and make terrible decisions that waste even more time/energy from the people actually doing the work.

There were so many useless people that got promoted (to VP even) during the BK/BS years that should be removed, their continuing presence pretty much guarantee PG will fail at trying to revitalize Intel.

no more layoffs rest assured get ready for training camps teams mission building efforts etc. for all the new fabs and talent being hired get ready for lot of cross training shadowing jobs documenting flows procedures testing projects led by "super managers" the ones who are constantly speaking or micromanaging and hogging credit and protecting/ feeding their die hard pets who look at them with awe and work nights days answering emails calling into meetings and supporting not questioning their manager.
