Some groups are “short staffed” because so few people in a group actually do work that those who actually do work are overworked.
Every time there is a layoff, the percentage of people who actually do work shrinks.
After a layoff, like clockwork, 30% of the best workers quit voluntarily so the % of true workers continually declines. The SRD was particularly brutal as they cut all our LL6 tech specs. The tech specs did 70% of the entire areas work. Within a year of the SRD all of our best GSRs resigned. We were left with the dregs. The few people who were actually doing work dialed it back waiting for retirement. Many took the package last year. Even long time agency left Ford. The group will never recover. There is speculation that entire areas will be outsourced.

All the while HR claims Ford has great retention rates. The only reason they can say that is they do a spectacular job of retaining the dregs.

Cuts are not Company wide. They are department decisions.

Heard about it. First the PS will be gone. There was Company wide policy adopted to take out all PS. After that potentially in March or April there would be agency cuts too. My department is planning to reduce agency by 50-70% .
