Of course, he told me this in an informal conversation and claimed he had nothing to do with deciding who was put on PIP.
Did any of your direct managers admit the same thing or are they standing on the ground that PIPs are realistic and deserved by those employees who have been put on them? Kind of hard to stick to the story that this is not a complete charade when you are talking to people eye to eye.

Why does it matter to you who decides whether someone will be put on PIP or not?
