Reuters title: AT&T readies for revamped firm after sale of media unit
We were doing great being focused on what we're good at, then our great leaders decided to branch out and buy a media company, played with it until they nearly destroyed it, and now we're going back to being what we know best and touting that as progress??? Now imagine if we had focused on what we know best from the start and didn't try to be something we're not, where we'd be and where our stock would be at this moment. But hey, when you have leaders who "know better than anybody else," this is what you get.

How are we sticking to what we are good at if we are off-loading our mobility core to Microsoft? I'm not even sure what AT&T will even do in 5 years? Just resell stuff for a markup? We don't want to own anything apparently.
sort of like what big pharma is doing with covid. create the problem and sell the solution.

Nonsense, executive greed and ignorance of the business made them do it. MBAs without a STEM education know about business but nothing about the business of a company like AT&T or even DTV. To guys like them the business has no history or shared knowledge. It's just another source of revenue and fountain of bonuses. To the CEO of AT&T at the time of the DTV acquisition (he whose name must not spoken) 1970s video distribution tech was superior to fiber because it was cheaper to add a customer. Typical non engineering thought. Then they realized that satellites don't last forever and panicked.

Really sad state of affairs.
