I know itvis a form letter and not sure why i am complaining now..
just really left me cold this time around.
Oh look... 580,000 engineering job postings on linkedin today...i wonder how many list " nonessential" in the skillsets. Yeah none... but plenty say "pandas" and "AWS"... busy day tomorrow.

Celebrating mine as well starting today. Got to sleep in a little longer, worked in my PJ's for a while, cooked a nice breakfast in between emails, you get it. Took a shower when I was good and ready, and saving a boat load on gas money. I don't care what they call me. The guy that sent it (and everyone above him) is non-essential as well. Got to learn to take the situations of life handed to you and make them work for your advantage.
Let's have a non-essential voluntary layoff! I will be first in line to sign up!

Doesn’t bother me one bit. Such a tiny little thing, maybe focus on the stuff that matters and don’t sweat the small stuff.

Left me feeling the same way. I get the whole origin of the term but it still felt like a form letter. Must be the general hopelessness of the pandemic. Vaccines dont work. Unending isolation is depressing.
Just kiss the weak ones goodbye and move on i guess.

OP: Check out the link on what "nonessential worker" actually means. It is not a term that downgrades your role in an organization. It's simply a word that businesses and government entities use to determine which employees are required to be on site to maintain it. If you are considered nonessential you would simply be able to work offsite. Don't read too much into it for your value to the company.
Non-essentional is a term used to describe you by your government and media outlets. But, by all means, start blaming HW for your self-worth issues.
It's a technical term going back to the beginning of Covid when "Essential" workers could work during shutdown. This site is becoming a bunch of Karen's.
At HW everyone is non-essential. All are a mean to an end. Show me sum money
