Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Constantly being called in on my days off

This is literally driving me crazy! I can’t wait to become unavailable forever for this company. Until then I am available for Belk even my days off. I guess I'm not the only one, but I really don't know how to position myself. I have kids and I can’t lose this job but I’d rather not answer at all.

Never lose your dignity at your Belk store and self-respect trying to make your managers love and appreciate you when they just aren't willing to give you nothing but bogus support and fake smiles.

Yeah, stop allowing them to treat you this way.

Belk does not plan to fail. Belk just so stupid failing to plan the working schedule! I told my store manager don’t call me on my day off. I am not your own “Ho---r” waiting for your beck and call all day. It worked and they need you more than you need them for sure.

Belk is the epitome of a dead end job. get out as soon as you can.

Now with full time associates being given 27.5 hours a week...where's the motivation?

Lots of Belk stores are doing this. They are also posting the following weeks schedule one or two days before the start of that week, which causes employees unable to make simple plans for child care, doctor appointments, ect, this is what happens when a company is about to go under, it happened at Toys R Us (to me personally), and also at Sears and K-Mart before they shut down for good. Make sure you take FULL advantage of your PTO time too, Belk does not want employees to have their deserved time off, lots of PTO is being declined companywide for new good reason other than for Belk to not have to pay it out.

Don’t let them guilt you. I used to go in sometimes, but absolutely not every time I was called. Explain quite firmly that you are supposed to have a schedule 2 weeks in advance for a reason; you have things to plan, too.
Remember, they need you more than you need them. They quite literally cannot and will not fire you for working your scheduled hours.
