I do not intend to buy a laptop for work with my own money in order to work for Seagate. No matter how much more productive I might become, I don't want to do it. If this company understands this as a cost, and not as an investment, then why would I do it...
Working conditions are worse than in all companies in which I have worked so far, but expectations from employees are higher.
Perhaps it's time for Seagate to invest a little in improving general working conditions?

You can bet the executive level gets a new laptop every couple of years. They think the rest of us are non-essential I guess.
Agreed. PLEASE let me by a decent computer with my own money for work if you are not going to Seagate! EFFING ridiculous.
I would use my own laptop in a heartbeat if it was allowed. We are forced to use the cr-p they give us. If it takes twice as long to do my job because of the garbage equipment I have to use, that’s Seagate’s problem.
Keep telling your management that your computer is going to delay the work and the products until someone in charge gets there head out of their you know what. Also bring it up at your review as to why they won’t support you to do the work.

Not sure why you aren't looking for another job. If you're waiting for them to loosen the purse strings, you're in for a long wait.
