Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

There is no such retention bonus that could keep people here

The retention bonus is a good attempt, however, I don’t think it will stop employees from leaving. Why? Because the problem here is not just that people think they are not paid enough, but a whole bunch of other issues as well. I know people who are just waiting to get a bonus and leave. Centene needs radical changes if it intends to keep the best people because I don’t think that retention bonus alone will be enough for someone to really ignore all the other issues we face and stay here?

A KCA is not a retention bonus. A KCA, retention bonus and the yearly bonus are all completely separate things.

They won't be laying you off if you got that extra bonus. Every single one of the care manager got it. However, no one supervisor or above got it.
I have staff who make more than me with less experience than me who also got a special retention bonus....ya life sucks right now.

For whoever is complaining about the new payroll system, Christmas and NYE are observed (paid) the days you have listed above. You are getting paid for both holidays. For the second portion, besides your manager reiterating 100 times to take your PTO before we switched payroll systems, we also received numerous e-mails to do so. You are not being “un-paid” for anything that you were responsible for requesting off.

Um, the Holidays are correct.

This corporation started a new payroll system on December 19. This system has not carried over approved paid time off. vacation/PTO time, sick time. It has the holidays incorrectly listed as December 27 for Xmas and January 3 for NY. There is no way to request time off even though it is use/lose by December 31. Paid time off approved under the old system and holidays are shown in red as MISSED UNPAID TIME OFF. I am filing a complaint with local DOL for wage theft.

He-l, I’d take a pay cut if they’d actually hire some people….instead they dangle temp positions like a carrot, and get rid of them too. Sadly they haven’t figured out is the good nurses have taken travel contracts, and not much quality is left at the temp offices now. Then again, they haven’t even offered us temp help either. Content to watch us drown for the almighty dollar.

There are no retention bonuses in play unless they are going to lay you off. The small amount coming in February is a Key Contributor Award that everyone does not get. The actual yearly bonuses are normally paid in March. If you get a "retention" bonus your foot is already halfway out the door.
