Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Is working in the Banking industry worth it anymore?

The Banking industry is shifting to offshore, using technology to automate everything and closing branches. If you were just starting your career, would you join this industry?

For the old… retire. For the young… skill up and get out of Financial Services.

Would not recommend. One of the junior analysts I used to work with made the wise move of going back to school for an engineering degree.

There are very few that won’t be touched by automation, AI, offshoring, or contractor offloads in the next decade.

My favorite aunt was high up in corporate vile America for a large national corporation. When I got my first career job, the FIRST thing she told me was to NOT be loyal to the company, because it would NOT be loyal to me. She was right. Never trust the US-er oligarchs. They are hustlers and hucksters in the business enterprise masquerading as a "country."

Large banks going to be a thing of the past.

The Great Reset wants you all poor and dependent.

Federal Reserve doesn't want private banking so it can sc--w you over harder.

Better to fix electric cars. Start out working for someone else, save your money and build a rep and open your own place. Of course you won’t be wearing a suit and tie to work and you might get your hands dirty, but you will never have to worry about getting laid off and your job will never be offshored.

Credit unions and community banks only. Never another global bank.

there was a time when working in the banking industry was a secure thing. It was like that up until 2005 or so. All those years. A shame it has caught up with other sectors of society. It did so well for so long as being one of the few industries that had that sort of built in protection for employees. Of course, Wells just exacerbated the whole thing and now we are all keyboard crazy because of it. Merry Christmas to you to Wells (specifically the crooked ang shortly prior to 2016)

If I could do it all again I would start a website for wells employees to go on and complain. Would sell ad space to Kleenex and Tampax

I would rake in millions

Retail banking has been dead for years. Go somewhere else on the finance spectrum: trading, private equity, hedge funds, asset management, or wealth management.

It’s been good to me so far and I’ve enjoyed it. If I could do it over again I would go to med school though and be doctor.

Seems all the whining comes from IT. Believe it or not, a lot of good departments exist and won't be shifted offshore.

For the right bank......yes. For WFB, no. WFB is nothing more than an environment of slaves run by the limitless lunacy of the "new" leadership teams.
