Recall of the Week: New 2022 Maverick

Giving confidence to Ford customers to be first in buying new launch platforms.

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2022 Ford Maverick models due to a safety issue with the rear seat belts. Additionally, a stop-sale has been issued for units already on dealer lots.

The defect: in affected vehicles, the rear floor assemblies were produced with tapping plates that may have oversized extruded bolt holes used to attach the rear seat belt buckles.

The hazards: oversized extruded bolt holes may decrease the strength of the fastener jo--t causing inadequate attachment of the rear seat belts during loading, which could cause it to detach and may not adequately restrain an occupant in a crash, increasing the risk of an injury.

Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.

Components: rear floor assembly tapping plates.

Affected vehicles: select 2022 Ford Maverick models produced between October 6th, 2020 through October 20th, 2021, at the Ford Hermosillo Assembly Plant.

The fix: dealers will replace the defective parts, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on January 3rd, 2022. The Ford reference number for this recall is 21C36.

Go down? Are you joking? Give us an example of that. People who help sink the company with poor decisions leading to massive recalls are never ever disciplined.

In my area, people that sc--w up get promoted. And especially if dei.

Maverick will be an ultra-low volume disaster. Quality and Reliability issues will be just like the iceberg to the Titanic. Hope the “captains” go down with the ship.
