Thread regarding Norfolk Southern Corp. layoffs

Where will the work be done?

Asking an honest question here and please refrain from the usual shop comparisons. If these posts are right and SCX is closing and Juniata is in dire straights where is NS planning on getting the heavier work done. It's a crying shame they ever closed Roanoke, but I don't see how the smaller running repair shops are supposed to keep up. I might be absolutely ignorant of the fact, but are there contractors set up to do this work? I just figured on callbacks at some point because a three wheeled car can't balance forever. I'm fortunate enough to have my 30 years, just waiting for 60.

Don't be so gullible. No one on this site has a clue what's the next step for NS. If you can get out then I would because the next step isn't going to be good for anyone except the shareholders.

Don’t have answers to those questions but they are good ones. Just appears they have an unquenchable thirst to cut mechanical. I’m not sure there’s anyone left that has a clue that things ware out. You can also bet they do not have anywhere near accurate numbers of actual repairs needed. Most get signed off. It will come to a head someday. Major accident, few units that even move under their own power, wait until the next major snow storm or blizzard. Should be entertaining.

The plan is in motion. NS knows where and who's gonna do the work. Its been planned out for years now. And the plan is about 98% complete. Almost to the end of the road trip. Yes JLS is in dire need of something that It will never 👀
