I know that everyone's case is unique, but I wonder if it's just me or if it's really not so easy to find a new job now as people here keep mentioning? I've been trying to leave for months, but there are so many applicants that make getting a job not as easy as people say. Of course, ATT on resume doesn't seem to help much.

As someone who left this sh@thole and applied for and got another career, WHO CARES if applications ask your race? Just fill out the demographic BS and move on. It beats coming to AT&T every day.
Yes, nearly every applicant tracking system will ask for demographics.
race
veteran
disabilities
Is it actually true that most job applications ask your race?? That is hard to believe. It used to be a verboten subject on an application or resume, because the only reason that information would be needed is to enable the employer to practice racial discrimination. Isn't that still illegal?
@1gpp "On nearly every application, you state your race
It becomes obvious, of one's age range, by college graduation dates, or just their jobs on their resume. Even if you list as your 1st job, a Senior something, no one gets that job right out of school.
On nearly every application, you state whether you are a veteran.

Some of you, are truly clueless, when it comes to looking for a job these days"
It's pretty obvious you know nothing about what you are talking about. Believe it or not genius, MOST if not all, online applications ask these questions about Race, Veteran Status, any Disabilities one may have. It also asks gender, preferred pronoun, etc.
Sure most job apps ask you to upload your resume AND LinkedIn profile, but their automated template also asks the Race, Veteran, and Disability status.
Do your homework before you make these statements!
Looks like so many people commenting, have no idea of today's environment, as shown by their statements.

AT&T is like a cult full of sick, brainwashed followers. Not just the management and executives, but also the underlings who have been beat so long they now think that's normal for a business.
The sooner you get away from this sick atmosphere and get on with a good, well managed company the sooner you get your sanity back and realize just how wrong this place is. Those that value their sanity and having a happy, relatively stress free life owe it to them selves to make what ever effort it takes to find a better job. It's not necessarily easy for everyone, but it is so worth it.
left 4 to 5 years ago and got three offers on my first three resumes I sent out. market was hot for IT. best decision I made in my life. I took it as a sign that I got offers on the first three resumes I sent out. been with two companies since and they are so much better ran companies than cesspool att it isn't even close. It is so nice to have a normal life back and away from the psychotic atmosphere of att. I would go back to these two companies in a heartbeat but no way in hxxx I would go back to cesspool att.
you won't regret leaving and you will be soooo happy. anybody thinking of working at att please run run run run far away. even if they offer you more money it isn't worth it please trust me.
I’m still on the hunt myself, but I’ve been picky about where I apply. If you aren’t getting the response you want, I would suggest paying a professional resume service to review your resume and LinkedIn profile and have them rewrite it for you. I had a friend suggest that to me and it has made all the difference. That doesn’t mean lie on your resume, that just means they rewrite it so that it gets through the AI HR app screenings and make sure that it reads well.
T Man, I’d love to see your resume. You’re implying there may be some kind of bias against you because you’re a “straight” “white” male. I’m wondering if you’ve highlighted this on your resume? If so, you’re doing it wrong. Sounds like you’re blindly submitting your resume expecting positive results. You’re going to continue to get nowhere doing it this way. You also mention that you “know, more than all my peers”. I doubt it. Usually when someone makes a statement like that, it’s not the case. Why no degree? Because you already know more than everyone else? Sometimes it’s just a hard requirement, even if you’re non degreed and already know more than anyone else. Why haven’t you taken advantage of your GI Bill as a veteran and/ or the tuition assistance here and checked that box? As a fellow veteran that had hired many veterans over the years, I would wonder about this, and I’d prefer the guy that hustled and earned his degree while working, it can be done. I did it myself.
Getting a job now is just like it’s always been. It’s always about who you know. You need to have some connection, one way or another, to the place you’re applying to. Someone on the inside that knows you and can vouch for your character and work ethic to the folks doing the hiring. Someone that can help get your resume out of the pile of the “general public”. Most of those won’t even get reviewed. That’s just he way it is. LinkedIn is the best way to network and build your connections. Could be that you don’t know someone at a company your interested in, but you’re connected to someone that you know well that DOES know someone there. In this case you can ask for an introduction. If you’re not doing any of this stuff and just blindly sending your resume online for a job your interested in, you’re doing it wrong and will continue to be frustrated. It amazes me what I see here with long term 20-30 years employees here that leave, and apparently have built no network of industry contacts.
at&t doesn't prepare you for the real world of technology. as the 54 year old person stated it won't be easy. we have at&t process and job roles that do NOT translate to the real technology driven world. it's just a fact. either get out quickly or if you stayed too long, you will find it difficult to move into google, amazon, cyber security, new tech, etc...they don't even stop to review the at&t resume. sorry but that's the truth -it's like the stock....no bueno
"but there are so many applicants that make getting a job not as easy as people say."
Really are you standing in a line? like back in the old days trying to get on at Ford or GM?
If not, who provided you with the number of applicants?
It all depends on ones marketability, salary, and marketability.
I'm 54, white, straight, non-degreed, non-veteran. IT Professional for some 25 years. Know, more than all my peers.
Yet, some 250+ job applications, not a solitary job offer yet :(
Had a couple close calls, but ultimately passed by, for unknown reasons, maybe salary, maybe location, etc.
It took several months with dozens of applications and a lot of interviewing before finding the right job. But I now have a job that pays better, is less stressful, and a much more positive work environment for a company that appreciates its workers. Surprisingly, having AT&T on my resume did help. Many people who haven't learned otherwise still see AT&T as a well managed leader in the business world.
Which we all know it isn't. There are enormous job opportunities waiting to be filled right now. If anyone wants to leave this toxic, mismanaged sinking ship, now is as good of an opportunity as you're going to get.
