Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Is Ford too focused on chasing Tesla?

I think it is and because of that other important things are being forgotten, unfortunately. But perhaps someone thinks that's not the case?

First and foremost, Ford is a business that that is SOPPOSED to be focused on building quality products and services people want. You accomplish that by developing a workforce of the best and the brightest based on PROVEN track records. Ford on the other hand is obsessed with developing a superficial central casting poster campaign where they can say, hey look at our diversity......but forget about that none of these people know what they are doing

And therein lies the problem of wokism.
"No company can go wrong with being nice, thankful, and inclusive to all people and cultures."
Ford has gone wrong doing that the last 15 years. That is when accountability started to unravel and the more you looked like a "poster person" which is basically non white male the more you are rewarded. This has caused Company stumble after stumble. Before the babes howl and tantrum about some -ism, what you apparently do not understand is that poor performance needs to be called out and corrected, promotions removed, and people fired if needed black, white, or purple. You don't want the whole company infected with " I don't care because Ford does not care" mentality. Business is not 'nice', its life, which grown ups could handle until the soft generation arrived.

@1abf+1el9J3DG "So which is it? Eventually or soon? Previous poster has manure for brains."

LOL. I'm fairly certain the previous poster was just yanking your chain, though your comment about "manure for brains" is likely true.

I think Ford following what you people call "woke" will eventually soon lead the company into prosperity. No company can go wrong with being nice, thankful, and inclusive to all people and cultures.

@uta+1el9J3DG so true. Billy boy is more interested in being a social justice warrior than advancing the company and their vehicles. I mean when I went to @Ford and there was a response from Billy on the Georgia Voter ID bill I thought I was having a weird dream. Who cares what the chairman of Ford thinks about a bill passed in Georgia?!? Crazy town.

Yes!! Every meeting is "Tesla does this and Tesla does that." We've been saying "Me too" for what Tesla does for years

The 2 Companies have different approaches. Vision and Innovation first and social justice and political correctness falls where it will. Or DEI first, then virtue signal, then follow others, and best results magically occurs. Can you guess which?

Ford has always been comfortable being a follower and avoiding risks. They are at ease doing this because of the revenues and profits generated by the F150.

When Cadillac was soaring in the late 90's Ford responded by putting a huge amount of resources into Lincoln. In the early 2000's when Subaru was growing like crazy Ford responded by trying to figure out how to "out-Subaru Subaru". Now the Tesla is the number one selling vehicle in California and Europe Ford is following yet again.

Tesla is leaps and bounds ahead of the competition. Tesla's autonomous driving capabilities are so far ahead of anyone else, the closest competitors really are Hyundai / Kia and VW - the big 3 in Detroit are no where close. But here is the issue. The big 3, including Ford are flexing their government lobbyists to sc--w over Tesla every chance they get.

What Ford is ultimately doing is accepting that they are not in the running for a best-in-class autonomous vehicle and rather than allow Tesla to lead this category, Ford is sabotaging their abilities by unleashing the bought and paid for NHTSA agency to slow them down every chance they can - and NHTSA is serving this role nicely.

What does this mean? Ford is screwing over Tesla with their paid government influence - Tesla's an American company - and the next best autonomous development will land with Hyundai / Kia or VW or Toyota.....all of which are (obviously) foreign companies.

It's like your 7 year old brother flipping over the monopoly board because he is going to lose the game and ruin it for everyone.

Please do a youtube search for a video called "Sandy's Rant: Tesla AI Day + NHTSA & Congress" this video should sicken you with that is happening at the behest of Ford.

Ford is a Tesla wannabe, but will never have the cache that Elon Musk brings to everything he does. Ford is the choice of a person who doesn’t care about driving a high quality vehicle.

Whatever machismo Farley tries to project in the press, he is desperately chasing Tesla. What they are doing is the sole driver. Problem we keep telling the execs is that if you are making decisions based on what you know now, you'll always be behind because they are working on what's next. The truth is that people at Ford rise to the top through backstabbing and stealing so that is why our senior leaders are so clueless. There is nobody left to steal from so all they can do is copy and chase our competition
