It’s a shame this question even comes up. It shows how far Chevron under MW and his HR flunkies has sunk.

You have to be political enough to keep your job. You don't work in a vacuum, you work with people and should be part of a team. If you can't get along with your teammates and/or management, then you have a problem and may not be around very long.

Are you asking those of us who have been laid off, on the Layoffs site? Why would we care and why do you, we've all been laid off.

Are you kidding me. If you have ever been unfortunate enough to work with more than one with executives it is disgusting to hear how much they bad mouth each other. Chevron way only matters at lower grade levels . Better learn to sc--w people passively aggressively if you want to advance beyond a certain level; look at last two Midcon VPs who are masters. I hear in days gone by it wasn't much different, only way more transparent. So short answer is yes you have to be political but also adaptable to how you sc--w you peers depending on the culture your expected to hide behind and portray.
