Thread regarding CenturyLink layoffs

Criticisms of new hires

I have colleagues who do everything they can to make it harder for new, young employees to get started here and make fun of them for not knowing how to do work, not having any experience, etc.

C'mon, people quickly forget what they were like at the beginning of their careers. Has this company really become such that even the best are afraid to share their knowledge so that someone would not steal their job?

What is the direction of this company? They haven’t a clue! All they care about is cutting costs and replacing/outsourcing for cheaper help. Hope that works out! Great vision Centurystink!

The answer to your question is very simple.
They want to discontinue TDM based services. So they can move on with Ethernet and Quantum. Rest of the services are dragging the company down. Consumer side of Lumen is a major liability to the investors.

It was like that in the 80's when I started. There always a good employee who will share their knowledge. This generation needs someone to show them the ropes. Supervisors dont know the job to be instructing.

All the good technicians left 4 VSPP’s ago. If your smart you’ll leave too.

Company used to pay the outside guys a differential to train the new guys. They quit doing that and it made things worse. I don’t understand the direction this company is going.

Making it hard for them is a true act of compassion....they’ll get tired of it faster than any of us did and leave in record time to a much better situation.......

They start out humble but resentful once they realize you make more and once the vacation schedule arrives it's "This isn't fair that I have to work holidays and you don't." Maybe not, but I waited 25 years to get one off so deal with it

The remaining techs are not the elite.
They are the unfortunate leftovers who can't afford to leave. Mix bag of green horns and somewhat experienced.
All of elites left the company from previous vspp.
