Versant Drum Shortage

Anyone else having problems getting Versant drums for their customers. I know of dozens of production customers who are down because they can't get drums. And the drums they get don't last long. Any info would be appreciated. This is embarrassing. We can't even supply drums for one of our supposedly "flagship" products!

Typical Xerox response …three year outlook looks good and five year plan says we will be on target. ???

Just one of many , many supply issues today …Sad to see a once great distribution network reduced to sh-t .
Reliance on Fuji for spares and third party distribution was a major mistake .

They still don't have a fix for it. They have something they are doing a pilot test on, but no guarantee. I've been in meetings where they are saying Q3 or Q4 of 2022 before they can even get enough corrected product made, assuming this new pilot fix works. Realistically it could go on until early 2023 if the fix doesn't resolve the issues, or if it does, they can't ramp up development fast enough.

The whole thing was bu-----d from the beginning, and I've got UK customers screaming bloody mu---r about it.

Yes. Big problem in our area/northwest. It's been going on for at least a year. We keep replacing versant drums prematurely for spot failures. This has to be a HUGE cost to X.
With all the costly new process implementations across the company and redundant systems still in place and now supply failures and a list of other things , I am truly fearful for this company's longevity.... how sad.

Its the toner not drums. Running out of drums as only choice is to replace drums for spots from bad toner. Various accts have cr-p tons of drums...

Getting drums is not the only issue to worry about now. Because of supply chain shortages it's getting difficult to even get machines now. Even machines built here get parts and supplies from overseas.

Fuji engineered a weak drum

The drum shortage is a worldwide problem. They say it will be resolved soon, but they don't even know what's causing the problem! I wouldn't count on anything soon.

“I'm a customer of Xerox and will tell you first hand, never the freak again, I want nothing to do with this Chinese junk.”

  • Don’t blame China. Blame Xerox… and maybe blame yourself a bit too for getting duped.

How do they keep Production Accounts? They Don’t. 👋 They Won’t.

Damage control all stations!!! 🔥🧯🚒

A bit late for that one. ⌛️ Xerox.

“ Estimated planning is end of 2nd Quarter / beginning of 3rd Quarter”. Based the statement above, this drum issue won’t resolved for 8 - 9 months at the earliest. How does this company keep production accounts with this ridiculously long solution?

Xerox also has a quality control problem with toner bottles and cartridges in Webster. They leak. The shortage is because they are inspecting them all individually. Drums are only part of the problem.

Most of our customers with versants are the same ones that argue about and then don't pay their invoices so honestly serves them right!

It's not just North America either. Same issues in EMEA. And from what I've heard they have no idea how to fix it.

Yeah. It's really bad. Worst I've ever seen it. It's a shame. Production accounts are going to leave. And word will hit the street not to buy Xerox production machines because you can't get drums.

Wow. Unbelievable. This will really make xerox shine with the customers.
Only an id--t would get themselves involved with these products.
It’s like a plane on autopilot headed right for a 10,000 foot mountain 🛬 🏔
Why even deal with this garbage?
I’m sure billing and supplies will credit this with no issues. Ya right.

Yes. It's not the drums that are faulty, it's faulty batches of Toner. The Toner has hard particles in it, which in turn scratches the drums. The drum life is wholly dependent on whether or not you have a "good" toner cartridge, or a "bad" toner cartridge. I have the lot numbers of the toners that are bad somewhere, but essentially i Think it was day 300 of 2020 through Day 100 of 2021 (I'll have to look that up) that are the bad toner cartridges.

The only fix is to get ALL new Drums, ALL new Toner cartridges, and do a developer change AT THE SAME TIME, and NEVER use the bad toners again! Check each time you put a cartridge in, and don't use it if it's a bad one.

Estimated planning is end of 2nd Quarter / beginning of 3rd Quarter to get out of this mess.

All I can say is thank God Xerox doesn't transport transplant organs, medications or make critical medical devices.
