Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Unable to stop the attrition?

People are not leaving because of the problems they have had since yesterday. People are leaving because of issues that have been piling up here for years.

Just like those issues did not appear suddenly, it is impossible to solve them all at once. So I think Dell is powerless to stop the attrition?

In talking to people, many would not stay even if they get a big bonus.

I was d-mb enough to do two tours at Dell for a total of eight years both as overlays first in storage ( came from EMC where I ran the Northrop Grumman accounts from Iowa to Hawaii and Oracle) the second in networking. Base was 140.000 with a matching OTE but..... if I ever got close to making my OTE I would immediately get slammed with 2-3 M more in goal, no discussion just here you go now f..k off. One time Dell owed me over 100K in commission for a huge deal I did with the Army in the Middle East suddenly the wheels of death stopped moving and my commission/ goal attainment rolled back to zero. had already closed 180% of goal by Oct and from Oct 1 to the end of the year I and several other overachievers on the team saw zero commission, in fact they tried to tell us we had been given too low a goal and they were adjusting it.... which they did and after selling over 26M in net product they not only didn't pay me or the other but took back commission in my case over $10K with no discussion, no explanation. I quit the next day and my manager and sector VP at the out brief with HR played like they couldn't understand why I was leaving, Dell is a slimy company that doesn't care about anyone but the top few who spend more time sucking up to M Dell than doing their jobs. Remember after the acquisition Michael immediately paid himself back first with a lot of interest before he started paying back the debt he ran up with Silverlake Partners (his brothers company) which by the way was mitigated by M Dells using Dell Corp funds do a lot of the buyout. Dell he-l and they wonder why the line has no loyalty.

At the time I resigned my entire team wanted to quit. After I resigned, others outside of my team messaged me privately saying they plan to quit too.

These issues have been piling up for years. In marketing the root problems have always been in useless leadership that get promoted into roles that they have no experience in via connections. Then the clueless managers don’t know how to motivate their talent or even provide bare minimum job support, so talent leaves and the cycle continues. These managers are shielded from Tell Dell scores because no one is allowed to rate anyone but their direct manager.
If they want to fix the attrition they need meaningful salary hikes over the inflation rate and should get rid of 75% of anyone with a director or higher title for letting it get like this. (there are a few good apples but mostly useless dead weight)
