PTO Use It Or Lose It

I wonder if management knows that some states consider accrued time as unpaid wages? Or that some non-represented employees can't take PTO because they might get fired for taking time off? A good company would just pay out unused PTO, not this company though.

Um, 8X5=40. Hence you are both correct. And yes the company is very clear that you can only carry over 40 hours so it is your own fault for thinking you are somehow exempt.

I always laugh when I see someone say something like, it's your own fault for not keeping track or not using it.
I am a direct report to a director. I try to use as much PTO as I can before November, because every year it is the same thing.... you can't take PTO because you have too much on your plate. Every year I tell him.i am going to lose PTO. Every year he pays me for the days I can't take. Last time it was 64 hours.
It's not always as easy as you boys in the field think it is to use your PTO. Just saying.

I don't think the question went to the management. They are forced to work 24/7.

The field techs have a choice when to take before end of the end.
If you missed the boat. It's your fault and don't blame Lumen.

Why don't you keep track of your PTO.
It's anyone's problem except for you not taking it for whatever reason.

The company has two choices with excess end of year PTO. They can take it from the employee or they could pay out the excess hours. It says a lot about how management views employees by the choice they made here.

Yeah! You can carry 5 days over. However, I lost so many days and got no credit for those days. They love when employees don’t use their PTO! Of course they don’t look at that as a positive and will lay you off anyhow! That place an utter disaster! The Executives are so disconnected to their employees it’s ridiculous! Gfy Lemon!

@OP+1eds6ond You are incorrect! You are allowed to carry over 40 hours (1 week) of any unused PTO each year. If someone is a afraid to take PTO for fear of being fired, then there are more issues at hand than just PTO carryover.
