Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

TR will do its best to convince you that you are not worth anything

That way they can control the employees better, if they convinces them that they are not worth much. How many times have you done a great job and ended up feeling like you shouldn’t have done it? That you shouldn't have bothered at all?
Proof that this company is making great efforts to devalue its employees are those who finally decided they've had enough and left. I don't know anyone who is not much more appreciated and valued in their new company.

This whole site was good and useful back in 2018 when it first opened but since then it’s been nothing but a bunch of self pitying, whiny, rumor spreading, repetitive, “The sky is falling” , frightened people. Those of you who currently are crying about not being “valued” ask yourself this one question, every 14 days do you get a paycheck and when you go to the doctor do you have medical coverage? I happily retired this year and for the record I do not work for HR.

I pay my bills and live a nice life, so not sure why you think I’m a minion. I get my validation in my private life, and I suggest the same for you. If you don’t think this company will fire you easily, you’re the one missing the point. You’re replaceable and it helps to remember that.

"Not whiny," have you noticed in the past several years how TR has rung the "Appreciate" gong and is constantly seeking employee input as to whether they feel "valued"? Or were you too busy trying to become wallpaper and congratulating yourself for being a minion? The point was that TR acts as if it's wonderful at recognizing employee achievement when in fact it actively sabotages employee value and self worth. THAT was the point of the post, which you missed.

What do you expect? You should do a good job as just the baseline of your work and be proud of it. You sound like my colleague that thinks we should get an award for everything when in reality we just do a great job and we’re part of the background. Don’t be entitled like him.
