Many of the stores have leases that are up this year and next. You can be sure Barnes and Noble will not be renewing them. I suggest you all ask your managers when your lease is up.

Don’t bother asking . They’ll say they don’t know. That’s the lie I was told in TN.

They told us our store would relocate and that never happened. I've learned to never believe anything management told us because they were usually lying and covering up something. And B&N has has lied to their employees and customers for years, just look at the huge layoff they plotted. They never cared about their employees, it was all about making the stock holders happy, whatever the cost.

Glad I got out when I did, but I still hear all of the horror stories about the worst managers who are still there. But I'm also sure karma exists.

Select markets will reopen with a smaller store. There will be much fewer new stores. Larger format older stores will not be here in the future. This will take years as leases expire.

So that's 4 in MA, and the Prudential isn't doing well at all either and they'll most likely be gone by this time next year. And I love how they say, "looking for a new location." What a lot of BS that is!

BN made their bed, now they must sleep in it. They deserve every horrible and nasty thing that happens to them. Down with BN, Daunt, Riggio.

BRAINTREE – The Barnes & Noble bookstore on Granite Street is closing, but the company said it hopes to find a new location nearby.

The store is scheduled to close May 22, and a clearance sale began last week. On Friday, the store's music and DVD section was empty.

In a statement, the company said it is closing the store because "the landlord has chosen to redevelop the space for another tenant."

"We have truly enjoyed serving our customers from this location for the past 28 years and appreciate their loyalty and support. We are to open a new bookstore in close proximity and will announce the location shortly," the statement continued.

All of the staff at the Braintree store have been offered jobs at other locations, the company said. The Barnes & Noble stores in Hingham and Walpole will remain open. The Saugus store is closing on Sunday after it lost its lease and also is looking for a new location.

The Braintree store was on the verge of closing two years ago, but was given a last-minute reprieve after hundreds of customers sent emails to the landlord protesting the closing.
