Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Centene is a Garbage company to work for.

I just quit my job with Centene. Last day was Jan 4th. We were told all year long that dec 24th, 27th, 31st, and jan 3 would be paid holidays. On Dec 21st we get an email how those are now mandatory work days, but we will still get the vacation pay on top of hours we work. I turned right around, and said, I resign, here's my two weeks notice; last day is on 01/04/22. This is after them laying off a ton of people causing us to be understaffed all year long, followed up by hiring temps that muck up more than they actually work. On top of being pulled away from our duties to listen to BS meetings about digging deep and doing more. This on top of the higher ups refusing to let me take 40 hrs of my vacation time, roll it over, or pay it out. Sc--w Centene anally with a di--o made out of rusty nails.

I know that there is such a thing as “working to match the demand of production” which basically means if it’s busy you are expected to work. I work for Centene and when it’s busy, we work. Weekends, holidays, whatever. So do the managers. But, when it’s slower we get many “leave at noon, paid half day off”! We even got an extra floating holiday after working a holiday with the holiday pay and 1 1/2 time pay… so to work a holiday and get 2.5 x my pay plus another paid floating day? Grow up, this is an adult job with responsibilities. The PTO policy is VERY clear that it’s use it or lose it so either ask for it early enough to get approved before everyone else does, especially at the end of the year, take it earlier because you can use it before it even accrues or su-k it up to your inability to manage time like an adult! I’ve been treated very fairly and by that I mean I know I’m working the day after thanksgiving…. Big deal. I’m not 20, I don’t need to party three days with my college friends! The people that depend on an insurance company need assistance every single day of the year. If you can’t handle that you should work for an industry that is less demanding.

that does not seem legal but I’m skeptical - where did this happen?
