The financial focus is on buying other companies, stock/ dividend increases, and executive pay, not compensating lower level employees. If you are just starting out in your career, the only way to increase your pay at or more than the rising cost of living is to leave the company for higher pay. Don't kid yourself into thinking if you stay and work hard, you will eventually get what you are due.
