Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Do you think Ford will reverse there position on the vaccine mandate?

The unvaxed are supposed to get a 30 unpaid leave. Does anyone know what will happen to those who did not respond to the survey? Will they get a 30 day leave like the unvaxed or should the expect a different outcome?

Add Denmark to the list of countries that are removing all COVID restrictions.

Ford is behind the curve, again, on this one.

@4nnf+1eQwOrer - I also saw that "fine print" in the FAQ about following state & local laws which limit vacc mandates. But what I'm wondering if that's like how mgmt "followed all laws regarding age discrimination" during SRD cuts (which ended up with out of court settlements) or if HR is actually saying to those located in Florida, TX, etc that "we really want you to get these shots, but we can't force you due to local laws".

Does anyone here know of someone actually in one of those places who could tell us what they've heard?

Yes, that is the state of Michigan lying on the ads. Probably why you have HR and the mandate cheerleaders on here. People can't keep up with readily available data.

Saw a vax commercial on the gas pump screen tonight. They said everyone needs to be vaxxed because you could carry the virus to an elderly person. But they've already admitted that the vaxxed can carry the virus.

These people are liars without a conscience.

@4nnf+1eQwOrer - Certainly an interesting take on how to work the system, though I'm to honest to merely say I moved. However with both parents and in-laws well into their twilight years and close to needing nearby family to assist them maybe the time to go help them in Florida is right now rather than waiting.

"goons"

HaHa!! We all know Bill's hired goons are his HR department. But in these modern times, they just bully you while they work from home. Obey.

If you read the latest US Vaccination Policy (updated yesterday, 1/20/22 - you can find it online at Life@Ford) it specifically says they will not require vaccination if state and/or local laws prohibits such a mandate. So they will have to walk it back in some cases, just not for anyone who happens to live in Michigan. Pro Tip - change your address with the company to a state that has anti-vax laws, there are several, especially if your group is not ever really going to go back into the office even part time (another hint - if you are in good with your leadership chain, you can always ask them to let you work at home for the rest of the year because "make up a reason"....they can and do make case by case exceptions. Once that is approved, then say you have to move to another state due to "make up a really good reason, such as 'caring for elderly parent that lives in same said state so she/he is not locked up in a nursing home' - make it really good so as to not even be questionable unless the LL wants to feel like a heel" ) - and DON"T REALLY MOVE. Or really DO move to get some semblance of personal freedom back. You do have some cards to play...

I don't know which way it'll go, however it's a unilateral change in terms of employment that is hard to defend when it's not applied equally across the board (UAW gets a "pass"), nor is it relevant to the actual work being performed, as well as any perceived risk is easily mitigated by allowing these employees to continue working full time from home (as they have been for 2 3/4 years already), and since it's specifically employer mandated they take on the liability risk (even if small) in the event that something happens.

I don't care who is or isn't vaxxed, I just think this is egregious invasion into the medical privacy of employees. Worse than when Ol' Henry would send goons around to employee's homes to make sure there was no hard drink in the house.

CDC director says if you’re eligible for a booster and you haven’t got it you’re not up to date.

Latest email doesn’t mention boosters. So does Bill start all over with a new mandate requiring them?

And they still consider two doses of Pfizer to be fully vaccinated!

You can still file an exemption request though.

@3ozl+1eQwOrer " How about they effing "HAVE to reverse". Dont know the legality but various sources tell me that they HAVE to!"

You may want to exclude "magic 8-ball" from your list of sources, but ...

While I hope they do reverse their decision, companies are within their legal right to enforce a vaccine mandate as long as they accommodate for the ADA and religious exemption. They also have the legal right to terminate employment if you do not comply. Again, I'm hoping they will walk back their mandate.

I wonder how many replies we'll get talking about "how much talent Ford will lose if they do enforce the mandate" even though it has nothing to do with this post ;-)

And yet in the other end of the British Empire, Australia, they are up to a 3 booster mandate to be considered fully vaccinated. By May probably a 4th , then 5th…

Keep getting that Pfizer loyalty card punched , they need the money.

And yet it’s the vaxxed that live in constant fear.

As for the dope wanting to make people sweat it out , schedules need to be made for personnel transfers and training.

The policy is Ford can start the unpaid leave whenever they want. The are under no obligation to communicate it Company wide or to give a heads up to the fools who are going to get the box. Let them sweat it out.

While I agree with @2tqr+1eQwOrer that it’s just a matter of time , it would be nice to get an all employee email explaining what the latest policy is with respect to dates. Going in every day and nobody knowing what is going on is ridiculous.

C'mon people! It is time to accept reality. Ford is not walking back the policy. People are getting sent packing. Just because you haven't gotten the call yet, doesn't mean you are not on HR's to do list.

I seriously doubt HR is reworking the covid policy. That would involve, how do you say, "work".

Look at this organization's recent history, the key document for the corporate covid vaccine policy is from early November! A lot has changed with the covid science and data since then, but Ford shys away from it. LaLaLaLa we Ford HR hears nothing!!

And look how they avoid even addressing it in the town hall and Kumar meetings, they only mention covid or mandates during q&a. I bet they are bombarded with questions during those meetings in the live chat question submission and thus have to say at least something.

That's interesting that they told you to get the shots within 30 days or be terminated. I've refused to declare a status and when HR called me on Friday they told me (under the assumption that I was not vaxxed) that there would unpaid leave "on Feb 9th or later" but with prior notice of when. This was on the follow up email sent to me. In spoken words I was told "indefinite leave starting on..." with the implication that it the leave would end soon as I provided proof of having the shots. No mention of being able to apply for an accommodation.

Curious that what each of us was told is different and I wonder if the fact that I'm in a high demand area where we can't find enough heads (because Ford is muy cheapo).

I'm an anti-jabber and was just notified by HR that I have 30 days to get jabbed else I will be terminated. Don't care. I've already lined up another job that pays $30k more. Hope all you sheep are ready to take on all the work I was doing for you.

Soooooo, Jan 18 came and went and Ford HR did nothing. Said nothing. Sent no emails. Threatened no one.

The mandate is through. Will not be enforced. It will just quietly wither away. Good for you Ford for reconsidering this unnecessary mandate.

So to you vaxx people, have fun working side by side with me and my unvaxxed buddies in 2 months!

Hahaha!

No. What will happen is similar to what happened to people that work for the feds. This happened to someone I know who works for feds. Feds said you had to upload your vaccine status by a certain date (I think it was in December). He was actually triple Covid vaxed. He uploaded the info in one system, but not the other. No reminders. Boss didn’t say anything until he got called downtown and had a meeting with big boss and got writeup put in his personnel file. He explained the mix up, but he still got the write up.

I am guessing Ford will do something similar such as give you a written warning. Then 30 days with no pay. Then finally fire you after the 30 days.

If you don’t want to get the vax, fine, your choice, but so be prepared for consequences. Also, just get another job. Don’t wait to be terminated with cause.

In summary of all the posts on this site ...

Fire all the anti-jabbers and the sheep. I don't care what you say because I bought Ford stock at $1 and have been loading up on Tesla since it was 50cents a share. Oh, forgot to mention how everyone at Ford is a clueless backstabber and that my unwillingness to EVER purchase a Ford product will most certainly put Ford out of business. Why am I wasting my time here? I work for Ford and have nothing else to do while I collect a paycheck and run my side business.

Ford HR is full of people that still think Biden's policies will end the pandemic. Ford management is very familiar with activity for the purpose of appearing to do something.

They should reverse course. But they won't. Bill is too woke, too in bed with Biden. All because Trump didn't wear a mask when he visited Ford facilities. Masks that have been proven not to do a -blanking-thing to stop this virus.

The previous commenter nailed it. Bill knows all of the left's lies around this pandemic and yet he's still in bed with them. Which is why I'll only buy GMs from now on.....
