It gets really annoying how they blame the epidemic and the virus for everything. Is it really possible that it's all due to pandemic? I don't think so and I'm just wondering what excuses for bad management they would find if the pandemic had never happened .

Previous poster @aqp+1eQ6pXMj hit the nail on the head. The RR has screwed itself royally this time.
Coming up with some sort of lie to fit the moment is nothing new for railroad management. It's one of the few things they're good at!
the cuts were cuts into their own investments, but they are too f u c king stupid to acknowledge this.
The thing they don’t realize is before all the cuts started we had a hard time keeping new hires. Not many lasted long. Not many in this new generation are willing to put up with the screwed up schedules, days off, and forced holidays like in the past. It’s been said before on here. The RR isn’t the be all end all like it used to be. Not enough money to deal with all that.
They would site the usual "head winds" of a tight labor market, cold weather, and any other excuse they could come up with. There's no way they would ever say they caused this mess.
All hail the mighty shareholder!!
