A few mentions from countless youtubes on the great quit.

  • 100% remote work not offered
  • No upward mobility
  • Woke culture getting out of hand
  • Vaccine mandates

Looks like ibm is telling their hr and managers to be active on platforms like this.

Some manager also gave me an empty threat.

You think ibm isn't toxic place to work for? It's toxic and it pays minimum wage in tech.

Seriously i pity the engineers who think they're b9 with 20 yrs of service and think they're being paid highly.

Lol people leave fang for even higher pay, unicorn startups are paying even higher. Only a few people leave because they're burned out.

Nobody actually wants to work at ibm as they've no new products or technology.

Only those who can't find a job elsewhere wnat to work there. Or the ones who bought a home in middle of nowhere and only tech company is ibm.

IBM is a B2B company providing software and services to enterprises. While IBM has made a lot of mistakes in the past 10+ years, it is still BIG in the enterprise at this point. The whole financial system in the US runs on IBM MQ as an example. Most large companies in the financial, insurance, retail, transportation still run mainframes and they are not getting off these mainframes any time soon. So while IBM is definitely shrinking because of greedy Execs and their too many mistakes, IBM will still be around for a long time.

There is a poster in the Raleigh office that says "Find a job you love, and you'll never work a day in your life".

I am always tempted to add another poster underneath that says "This is not that job, so get back to work."

One of the good things that I think happened from the pandemic is that more and more people are realizing that tying up your identity and sense of self-worth in your job is a bad thing, that's why I'm very glad to see compensation so high on this list.
Sure, everyone wants to work in a good working environment, but I think the idea that "nobody left because of the money" is finally being put to bed.
The fact is that corporations and VCs have always realized that business is primarily just about the money, and their ability to get people to work for their "passion" has resulted in people getting underpaid. I'm always especially amused when people are expected to have "passion" when they're working at like a bank or an insurance company.

You work to make money.

There are plenty of opportunities for hobbies and volunteering for passions. I'm not saying you shouldn't enjoy what you do at work, but don't lose sight of why someone is paying you to do it.
