Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Quite a conundrum

SCOTUS blocks Biden vaccine mandate, which is what Citi was using as the basis for their vaccine mandate. Interested what those of you who got the vaccine to save your job, are feeling now. I think I'd be a little bit pi---d.

For me, it’s not so much about whether the vaccine was right or wrong but rather management tries to be bleeding edge, ahead of the curve, Trail Blazers and in comparison to other financial institutions its apparent that the vision is not there.
This whole vaccine mandate is no different. Focus on all this “other stuff” and forget about managing the core business to keep the lights on. This article says it all.

This whole thread is d-mb. SCOTUS voided the OSHA mandate for all companies over 100 employees. The Federal contractor mandate is still in the courts being decided currently at the 11th circuit. That is the basis of Citi's policy (and all the airlines and others)...also - get vaccinated. But also, anybody on here saying "but my freedom" and also criticizing a corporation for having freedom to assign at will employees conditions of employment is holding contradicting opinions.

That stinks. Save all your paperwork, receipts, med records etc….maybe even journal it out on paper. Just in case you get complications later on and feel the need to go to court for pain and suffering and mental anguish.

I didn't receive paid time off to get the vaccine and was sick from it and lost a day of work. I also had a reaction to the vaccine that resulted in 2 doctors visits and and 2 rounds of steroids to resolve. None of this was paid for by the company that mandated I receive the vaccination. Thank goodness it was at the end of the year because if I would have lost one more day I could have been put on action. That is what I am resentfull about. Please don't say you get paid time off for a shot you didn't want and then don't follow through.

Texas has passed a law prohibiting a company from requiring the vax. So that should be good for a few lawsuits here and there. Some people got it out of fear of being fired rather than wait for the Supreme Court ruling as the deadline date was counting down.

I get the feeling that we’ve not seen the last of this. I can easily see Citi also mandating flu shots as well.

Israel is moving toward requiring 4th vaccine to be considered 'fully' vaccinated. Folks, goal post for definition of fully vaccinated can change in one day. Unless you stand up, you who are fully vaccinated by current U.S. standard may face same situation as those who are unvaccinated if company starts to require additional vaccinations to be considered fully vaccinated.

“ensuring they don’t have to risk working next to non vaccinated “

Are you living in 2020? Sally banker having the jab or not poses no risk to you. It’s very clear now how this thing works or maybe better said doesn’t work.

Getting the vax out of fear of being fired is much different than getting the vax because you believe in it. In essence leveraging people’s desperation of keeping their jobs and insurance for their families. All so you can flex your muscles and “make people step in line”. Resentment…..yeah….its there alright.

Y’all are so funny. Hopefully today is your last paid day at Citi. Good riddance to employees too d-mb to get vaccinated. Happy to work for a company that protects it’s valued employees by ensuring they don’t have to risk working next to non vaccinated id--ts.

The big question is….with all these employees who were coerced into getting the jab to keep their job….can you trust them? It has been said many times, when people have nothing left to,lose, they lose it….. I’d be wary of angry employees for sure. They better pray no one gets any bad side effects from taking these experimental shots.

Civil lawsuit for pain, anguish and stress. Lawyers would take this on contingency payment just to get in the spotlight of challenging a big company,

“ Don’t need a mandate to do the right ”- - -This is the problem imposing overreach. Citi determining and forcing you to do what THEY think is right.

“ raises were actually decent this year”- - - the fact that you have wait years for a decent raise, is another problem. One that I would think would warrant leaving to somewhere else where you don’t have to wait years.

I doubt all the anti vaxers complaining here even work for Citi. Certainly not at 388 in NYC. We’re happily vaxed. Don’t need a mandate to do the right thing for our health.

And the raises were actually decent this year, at least for everyone in my area.

If by chance you actually work at Citi ( maybe some branch in Florida), you can find another job. No is forcing you to stay and complain.

Time for these bullies to pay up. A nice start would be @ $500k cash bonus to everyone who was told to get the vaxx or risk termination. The anxiety over this vaxx has taken a psychological toll on people.

Or they can continue along with a lot of resentment from employees and see how it goes. My sense is it don’t go well…

This is worse than coming home to find your spouse in bed with your best friend. A real kick to the nuts/ovaries.

No one likes ultimatums even if they are right. So the bullying of do it or else has not set well with a lot of people, even if they believe in the science of the vax.
Is there anything that anyone can do about it, no. Viable lawsuit, doubtful.
Resentment, oh you bet. Like never before. No bonuses or raises for the masses…the resentment comes and goes but this, this is different. Good luck all. :)

I would agree with you except for the fact that Citi blamed their position on the Biden mandate. If they had said they were doing this to set a standard for safety and wanted to do their part in ensuring the health their employees, I think they would be in a much better position, Only time will tell.

From Citi today: “99% Compliance: Status of Our U.S. Vaccine Requirement

A few months back we announced that U.S. colleagues are required to be vaccinated for COVID-19 or receive an accommodation by January 14. One day before the deadline, we have reached 99% compliance. This level of compliance helps us create a safer workplace, protect your families and our communities, and ensure continuity of our business operations.”

No backpedaling. If you’re not vaxed ( or have an approved exemption) you’re out.

The ruling says the govt can’t mandate companies require vaccines. But companies still can decide that vaccines are required as terms of employment, with reasonable accommodations for exceptions.

So Citi is totally within their rights. Sorry anti vaxers.

@khu+1eMO1f1S

I don't see why not. It would fall under standard workers comp. The boss said "go do this", you fell off the ladder or were injured by a falling brick or the vaccine gave you myocarditis and you cant work anymore, thats it. Massive settlement.

Citi has some well compensated employees in certain roles, 140K+. I imagine a settlement for a person injured by a vaccine in one of these roles would be 5MM +, but the only way the bank will learn this is through experience, sadly.

If they mandate the shots will they now be liable for injury to anyone who has adverse side effects?

Seems like a way to destroy a company…. Who didn’t mandate vacc? I don’t think JPM mandated it, they just highly encouraged people to get vaccinated.

Citi is going to have some pi---d off employees fo sho.

They can, but the basis of their mandate is no longer valid. Will be interesting to see how they handle this.
