Thread regarding Refinitiv layoffs

PIP is no longer used just for low performers

A coworker who is one of the hardest working men I know was recently put on PIP. He has been butting heads with our manager for a while, so that could explain it. He believes there's no beating this and is already looking for a new job. I'm wondering if this is true? Can PIP be beaten or is it considered a done deal?

Some managers soft sell being on a PIP. Don't believe any of it. A PIP is very serious and you have been identified as an asset that they can do without.

PIP can be beaten in Labour Court. Take good notes of everything that you do vs your objectives and tasks, i.e. meeting minutes, workday records, emails, etc., then record it all outside of your work laptop. Lost court cases was one of main reasons other big companies put forced ranking system and 50% "how" to trash loooong time ago.

No one cares about hard work here.

I got let go in the 2016 round, before all the transactions.

The only people who made out were the Execs, who got transaction bonuses for the sale to Blackstone then another for the sale to LSEG.

Everyone else just had to deal with the layoffs, taking on the work from those let go, and having all their brand equity destroyed by the social equivalent of "purchase accounting".

Looking back, I was f****ng lucky! Thanks for the severance, Dave!

There are too many issues at Heritage Refinitiv. You have entite teams of contractors... with a internal manager how will that ever work ...
They continue to take care of their talents like if they were trash ...
It was a good company, but now internals go to PIP and the others sc--w as much as they want ....
Send resumes in PIP or not in PIP .!.

It's rare for an employee to satisfy a PIP. Goals on the PIP are set so that they cannot be achieved. A PIP is a way to get rid of employees without the expense of a package. If you are placed on a PIP, start sending out the resume, before you have to explain why you were fired. Really no reason to mention a PIP in an interview.

Once at your new company, the employee will be way happier. There is a lot of stress for the employee that is on a PIP.

Deal done my manager admitted to me that in his eyes I wasn’t under performing but the criteria put me there because of things he acknowledged were outside my control
