How the he** can tcu raise our dues with out making any progress on negotiating our contract? We don’t get any updates at all! They wanna talk about “brotherhood” and “solidarity”? How bout we freeze the monthly payment till we sign! That would be true solidarity. I’m everyone feels the same just needed to rant

The unions are in bed with the corporations , they do not do us any good whatsoever. I know some guys can't see it but they are responsible for fu----g us as much if not more than the carrier , at least you expect the carrier to fu-k you over , the union has thier hand in your pocket and and is paid to help us but are 100% worthless. If I ever quit I will never be in a union again .

Biden with the union? This ain’t your daddy’s Democratic Party anymore. If you are not an illegal alien, convicted criminal, BLM member, lgbtq member, or a socialist, you don’t matter to these people. How else do you explain forced vax on citizens but not illegals? Or giving them almost 50G a piece like he wanted? These people are their new voters. The Dems left the working class and frankly most US citizens about 10 years ago.

[To the appropriate union officer]:
I hereby resign as a member of [name of union]. My resignation is effective immediately. I will continue to meet my lawful obligation of paying a representation fee to the union under its "union shop" or "agency shop" agreement with [name of employer].

Furthermore, I object to the collection and expenditure by the union of a fee for any purpose other than my pro rata share of the union’s costs of collective bargaining, contract administration, and grievance adjustment, as is my right under Ellis v. BRAC, 466 U.S. 435 (1984). Pursuant to Chicago Teachers Union v. Hudson, 475 U.S. 292 (1986), I request that you provide me with my procedural rights, including: reduction of my fees to an amount that includes only lawfully chargeable costs; notice of the calculation of that amount, verified by an independent certified public accountant; and notice of the procedure that you have adopted to hold my fees in an interest-bearing escrow account and give me an opportunity to challenge your calculation and have it reviewed by an impartial decisionmaker.

[If you pay dues by payroll deduction, include this paragraph:
Accordingly, I also hereby notify you that I wish to authorize only the deduction of representation fees from my wages. If I am required to sign a new deduction authorization form to make that change, please provide me with the necessary form.]

Please reply promptly to my request. Any further collection or expenditure of dues or fees from me made without the procedural safeguards required by law will violate my rights under the Railway Labor Act and/or U.S. Constitution.

Finally, please consider this objection to be permanent and continuing in nature.

Sincerely yours,
[name]

I agree, if you are loosing members and the local officers are still getting paid the same, that is a problem

Go to the local meetings, find out what your local officers pay is and then vote to change the by laws for their pay, then see what happens next, you will be surprised, the membership is always in control if it wants to

If everyone is so fed up then why isn't everyone becoming dues objectors? At the very least it would more than offset the amount they're going up. Either be a man or a mouse. I've been one for the last 4 years and don't regret it one bit.

The unions don't have to cut jobs. They just raise the dues on the people that are still paying to make up the difference.

40% of the workforce lost their jobs did the union cut 40% of its workforce to coincide with those that lost jobs??? Going years without a new contract and co start dues increases with 0 headway in securing a new one

Go to all the meetings you want to but when the national sells everyone out no one stands a chance. Grow up and open your eyes. These unions are a joke. I just wish we (locally) could join whatever union we wanted to. I bet them they would get off their a-s and do something. Look at Volvo what their union accomplished. The last comment must have been made by a local official.

The same people that are complaining here probably never go to local meetings, never return ballots, never run for office. Get involved.

I’m all in!!! It’s the only option left. Saves me a few bucks and puts the hurt on the worthless fu--s that take our money, pat us on the head, and tell us the company has the right! They’ve been laughing all the way to the bank.

The best way to strengthen the union is for YOU to get involved! Run for office! You'll probably win. It's a thankless job.

I say ditto for the last comment. As a dues objector, they still have to uphold the national contract. They probably won't give very good representation if you get in trouble but they have NEVER given that anyway. The local chairman will do better anyway. I'm in, anybody want to join in?

So for once in everyone's career, let's bond together no matter which union you belong to, ban together and everyone become union objectors? It's about the last statement we can make as a collective group. If those that decide not to, shut your pie ho-e and take whatever the company serves up. All you need to do is contact The national.

So what are the options then? Bend over and keep taking more of the same? Withholding a portion of your dues seems like a good way to get their attention. Maybe then they will even start doing what they are are supposed to do and enforce the contract.

If we could just get rid of all the unions it'd be much much better. The great pay and benefits of a non union short line come to mind. Hey since there'd be no union we might even get a chance to reapply to the contractor that they used to contact out our previous jobs too. I'm sure they'd be paying more.
I get as frustrated as the next guy because the unions won't fight for the work rules but let's not throw out the baby with the bath water.

Do It! A guy at our location did it. It works. And it’s above board. Any thing to put the hurt on these worthless unions. After we saw how it worked out for him more of us did it.

So why doesn't everyone left become due objectors? It may only cut 20 bucks or so from your dues but if everyone does it, they'll be losing slot even with the increases. But I'll bet that the majority of those bi-----g won't do it. If not, quit your crying.

The union is a joke they are raising the dues because they have let us all down. They let the company cut so many now they have to get the money some how. Supply and damand.

The PEB hasn’t officially been established, but people in the know have a good idea who is going to be on it. Your union is working OT to make sure that the PEB is pro worker and not just a bunch of corporate sell outs.

The only negotiations that take place are with the PEB, not with the NS representatives. Once the PEB is officially established updates should come regularly.
