There is someone on here that gets very upset when there are no layoffs announced, must really s_ck to be them and all they want to read is news about layoffs.
Personally I'm really happy when there are no active layoff in progress.

After 32 years, I just assumed it was a quarterly thing. The only reason I'm probably still around is I have the keys to some critical systems that hardly anyone else knows how to use, at that update. They have layoffs almost weekly but keep the number and locations just below what is required for WARN requirements. They've been playing this game a long time.
Problem with AT&T is they are operating with outdated equipment and technology. Customers are looking at cheaper solutions such as just internet and Roku, Google, Apple, etc. AT&T continues to charge inflexible packages for several hundred $ monthly. Most of the customers are probably Boomers who are old fashion and not technology savvy or just doesn't like change. However, they are a dying breed. AT&T needs to move forward and work on capturing a younger audience. Even their wireless plans cost too much.
What are you gettin the crappie on ? I got some on jigs deep the other day, 30-40 feet deep, yellow & white. We did pick up one slab trolling a shad rap though.

Their ability to cheat, lie, steal from employees and customers. I even want
to hear about goings on in Grand Prairie, Tx.
Most layoffs at AT&T (oops, the new SBC) aren't announced anymore. When they do happen, it rarely ever hits the news. We used to know how many employees were being let go but not anymore. Layoffs are quietly done within the organizations. Employees are let go and replaced with contractors or not at all. I've seen it far too many times. So, I can understand why other and different topics are covered in this board.
I come on here periodically seeking information about a possible layoff in our org.... instead I come across hateful, mean spirited, and childish posts and rants about everything under the sun except layoffs. I have found prior layoff info quite insightful and helpful - i support those who who ask others to please stay on topic.
‘Candy brain’, ‘wonder bread’??? And you can’t figure out why people are fed up with these comments? If the name calling, insults, political comments were not in 95% of the posts, perhaps the insistence to stay on topic would diminish. But these guys want to own the forum with their anger and hatred and we’re more than fed up.
Layoffs are not what they were 30 years ago, where the company looked to fire a percentage of the workforce in a particular service offering. The days of headlines like “AT&T announces 40,000 workers to be let go via VRIP” are over. Now we have a much broader business and workers are moved in many ways. Some SVP retire and his people are reorged. Outsourcing. Spinning off DTV, WM, or Xandr. Acquiring something that quietly lets the company fire 100 people due to automation. Letting IBM or Accenture do work which we would normally do in-house. The m***n who keeps saying “this isn’t about layoffs” doesn’t get it. The people who post antivax or anti-leadership or rude comments don’t get it. When corporate communications is terrible, this site could provide info that indirectly helps someone anticipate a layoff coming. That post helped that one person. Oh, and stop using acronyms, no one knows your corner of the world.
Believe it or not candy brain, there is so much more to consider and discuss about T than just layoffs. Sure there are a lot of bogus postings here that are unnecessary, but there is also a ton of good information shared and needs to be shared about T that doesn't particularly involve layoffs because you sure as h*ll won't get that information by just listening to the useless townhalls.
Can ya'll grow up and stop this? What, are we in grade school?
