Thread regarding CVS layoffs

When did you make the decision?

Actually, I wonder how long it took you to make the decision to leave this company? I've been thinking about it for a year now, but despite all the stories of people who are supposedly much better off since they left, I'm not sure it's much better in other companies. And I wouldn’t want to go through the stress and change jobs just to end up in the same or a very similar environment.

Went on a 3 AM online application binge and got a call for an interview five hours later. Ironically my boss had worked with CVS and pushed my resume to the top of the pile to (in his words) "get me out of the hellhole". I also have multiple rare chronic health conditions and no specialists within an hour and a half were covered (in a huge metro area) with CVS insurance so I was on the marketplace (needed to keep my doctors because some of my stuff is so rare only a handful of doctors know how to treat it. If the company provided good insurance I would have stayed, not thrown away nine years.

Left CVS after 15 years as SM. Now I work retail for a much smaller, family owned retail corporation and it's awesome. Still have nights, weekends, customer service, but. I feel personally valued by the owners of the company (they gave me a plant for Christmas, along with a bonus). Plus, smaller company = better agility (think help desk solves IT problems while you are on the phone with them. Best choice I ever made.

Most retail jobs have the same stress as someone stated earlier money doesn’t equate to happiness when it comes to work no matter where you go you need a solid team with you to find any peace

I left field management 4 years ago. I had done it over a decade and I had been unhappy for 2 or 3 years due to continual increases in sales and rx’s and payroll continuing to go down due to new “more efficient processes.” I always loved my job, but operated off the basis that I would never lie to my team. Left a Region Meeting and felt like there was no justification for the new budgets. In addition, myschedule team would never provide justification for why certain stores were wrong. Eventually they cut the mailbox off and refused to answer. Company culture was awesome until around 2016. I remember feeling like I couldn’t leave bc comp was so good, but I took the leap. It took me 2 years to change, but I can tell you that my advice is don’t sacrifice your happiness for $. It affects all you do.

Yes i feel the same. I worry about leaving only to end up in the same situation. New job same problems. Thats why i am learning to make my own money with investing in stocks and crypto. I have several crypto i am in so i figure i have 7 different sources to bring me money and the same with stocks. I am also trying long term trading and short term trading. We all should invest.

I doubt a skill less people like yourself could thrive in another job. I recommend you suck it up, buttercup.

I stepped down in July of 2021 from store manager to refuce stress after 33 years. Took a significant pay cut, but made up my mind I was done being a puppet. In August of 2021 I fell into a job with a bank. Got a pay raise, not what I was making as a manager, but a raise from where I had stepped down. Life has never been better. No nights, no weekends, I actually got to enjoy my holidays with my family for the first time in 33 years. The pay cut was worth getting my life back and never hearing Carepass again. If you know in your heart it’s time, just do it!!!! I’m so glad I did!!! Money don’t buy happiness, and all retail is the same……
