I was an STM at Belk until late 2020. Rumors were swirling around about Belk’s bleak financial situation.They told us to pretend everything was just fine. Not to address any questions about Belk’s chapter 11 with associates and customers.
I knew when I heard this we were in big trouble. the line they wanted us to use “I’ve never heard anything like that before”
I left to work at UPS and while it’s hard work, it’s ethical, stable, and honest work, which is what all jobs should be. Belk should be ashamed they are trying to conceal the truth from employees. They operate under the premise that employees and customers are stupid!
