Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

In short- Simple read any company on this site it's all negative, in particular retail. Now Macy*s is probably in the top percentage for negative posts for a verity of reasons. Remember than everyone here is a better CEO than every CEO named on this site.

Nothing negative here. It is a board where employees can speak the truth about how unethical Macy’s is to their employees.
Macy’s senior management, the regionals and a majority of the stores leaders are the biggest bunch of hypocrites I have ever seen.
They think by having their rah rah rallies that they can hide all of the lies and deceit.

Simple … it’s a board on a site called ‘the layoff’. Positive perspectives don’t need a platform. When things are good; it’s often taken for granted. Thank you for sharing your truth! Not everyone working at Macy’s is miserable.

The Boomers need to find another job?? I am LMAO! Without the Boomers Macy’s couldn’t operate. Any younger person that they hire cannot cut it because they are LAZY!
Face it Millennials, Gen X, and any younger person don’t want to work. They don’t want to work nights, weekends and are always calling off because they need a mental health day. They want to live off of their Boomer parents money .

I have worked for Macys since the mid 1990’s .There WERE many fine, experienced ,smart talented people in the company . People who had experience, knew how to lead , train and support staff. They also knew merchandising standards, understood numbers , service and brand integrity. Unfortunately many or most are gone…primarily forced out thru layoffs to save money ,while senior senior management collected annual bonuses and investors were appeased. I once was a devoted, motivated ,passionate, executive leader. I took so much pride in my store. Macys destroyed that. I see a company with no consistent store environmental or merchandising standards, no training or teaching of new hires, no consistent brand integrity and no genuine leadership. Without genuine leadership to invest in, inspire or attract talent….how does Macys think they can be Americas department store. I see store managers and regional VP’s making no true investment and offering no true direction or inspiration. A “ I’ll collect my paycheck “ mentality seems to keep them going.
Macys now has a significant number of mediocre to less than mediocre locations. Dirty, messy, disorganized stores with poor selection and no service. Over worked staff with no support. Can this company really just rely on online sales? Even the the online operation is dysfunctional at best. Please comment. I’d like to hear a more positive outlook.

Maybe some of you boomers just need to find a better job. Just no pleasing you.

They pay new hires up to 5.00 more per hour than tenured employees.
Oh wait the tenured employees will make what new hires make in May 2022. This is total BS
They lie to employees daily about pay, Covid cases and schedules.
Favoritism runs rampant in my store. The favorites only work in the areas that are comfortable in while the non favorites are forced to be global.
More Experienced employees are passed over for promotions due to the JG policy of diversity and inclusion.
Shoplifters are allowed to help themselves to whatever they want and threaten the safety of the employees.
The stores have to put up with the clown pose during regional visits and are expected to perform like trained seals to put on a show for this useless group of regionals.
If you are happy in this environment more power to you. My suggestion is get a life and a real job. I gave notice last week and can’t wait to get out of this unethical company.

I think self-selection plays a role here too. Happy people don't seek out an Internet forum to complain, discontent ones day. Although we Macy employees do love to complain no matter what.

I totally agree, my boss is absolutely amazing and so is my team. I love coming to work everyday. They’re my second family and I’m happy to have them!

Hmmmm......years ago my boss, the Store Manager, would come stand behind me at meetings and run his hands through my hair.....even in front of the HR manager.....you forgot to mention the culture of se-ual harassment.

Macy’s hasn’t given most anything positive to say. Countless layoffs, store closings, no labor force, shady pay, poor work conditions, extremely snobby upper management, etc. I think even their give back projects are sketchy.

It’s great that you work in a nice environment, but one store doesn’t represent the entirety of this company.

Because Macys is going down. I used to have good managers and a good store manager too but they are a dime a dozen these days. Company is really going downhill with their policies and their treatment of their long term employees. Every year, they treat their employees like cr*# more and more and take away more and more benefits. Remember we used to get Macys money? Remember we used to get $3 off $6 macys money for opening a credit, now it’s $2 🤣. We used to have thanks for sharing for holidays so associates could make Macys money to spend for the holidays. They used to give us holiday parties and all sorts of things. They keep getting cheaper and cheaper every year and cutting hours and getting rid of people so the people at the top can make ridiculous bonuses.

Real quick it’s is accurate to say because Macy’s is losing good people due to top management decisions that are being made. Their decisions affect the entire organization. Again you are fortunate to have a good leader most shores that I talk to say their leaders are two faced and could care less about their employees.
Again if you do not like or agree what is said why are you on here in the first place? Your ignorance is very apparent. You are one of those people that if others opinions are different than yours you have an issue. Get over yourself and go drink more Kool-Aid.

Macy’s is a terrible company to be paying new hires more than tenured employees. You can talk all you want. That is the fact and it is morally wrong and unethical. You most likely are a senior management crony trying to defend your bad decisions.
Find somewhere else to sell your garbage.

Real quick… not all high level managers are lazy… many of them work side by side with their teams digging in on recovery, fulfillment, or many other things that come up. There are some bad eggs and some bad stores, but saying the entire company is one way or another is inaccurate and ignorant. I’ve also seen that theory about fake complaints come up many times. That is entirely untrue. I have never seen or heard of that ever happening. If you’re doing a good job, why would anyone ever want to make up a complaint to remove you? Just another excuse to convince yourselves someone other than you is to blame.
