Thread regarding Ford layoffs

I won't bother anymore

New hires seem to be allergic to constructive criticism. They make a mistake and if you try to correct them they're ready to bite your head off. I don't know why I even bother. It's not going to come back to me. I can just let them keep making the same mistake until it comes back to bite them in the a-s. I had somebody help me out when I just started and I always tried to pay it forward. Not anymore, though.

i know that when i was an FCG and way beyond, i used to enjoy learning from the guys who had been there a long time. yeah sometimes they were grumbly about it, but who isnt? "Memory is our strength." sadly, the corporation doesnt necessarily agree.

Won't bother

That's pretty much what we should be doing as far as posting on this web board. It's worse than Twitter.

The young new hires are bring told they are the future of Ford. That current employees are old, and know nothing and should only be tolerated. You are getting attitude due to that. Most importantly, you are literally wasting your breath on them as they are drinking the new hire kool-aid and believe you are an id--t starting in their way. Just don't bother. Let them fall on their face. Otherwise, they will complain to their mentor manager that you are harassing, bullying, or gasp...making them feel bad. This is a real thing they are doing.

@OP At Ford, helping others could be dangerous for your career, with all the credit stealing and the blame shifting. I didn't learn covering my @ss here, but I noticed how much is used in this company.

BTW, most of the mistakes come back to bite someone else's @ss. When the sh-t hits the fan, usually the culprits have already moved to other positions, generally promoted for "exceptional" work. Yes, it had to be "exceptionally" bad work for the kind of blunders I have seen.

Good Luck! We'll need it in the coming months...
