Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Just to confirm

There has been no change in severance pay policy recently, right?

If Ford terminates a significant number of people without severance, I am sure there are plenty of lawyers ready to have a go at the policy and no reason for those employees not to join in a suit.

If you are terminated for refusing to get the vaccine, obtain an exemption, or refuse to report your vaccination status, you are not eligible for SIRP. It is not a case of your job being eliminated. You are being terminated because you chose not to following company policy. Of course, Ford may opt to provide some kind of severance to the unvaxed but they do not have a published policy that says they will do it so I guess you wont' know until HR comes a calling.

Involuntary separation has never been an “invitation” to leave. You don’t have a choice and never have had a choice in the matter.

This is super tempting. Reading the details online it appears one of two scenarios have to be in play. One- your job was eliminated and your group can’t find work for you or two - you returned from medical and no jobs were suitable for you.

This does not sound like it’s an invitation by any means to leave and get the pkg. Right?

Correct. SIRP does not apply if you are terminated for cause.

Just FYI they won’t give severance if they get rid of you because of a vaccine mandate. Don’t plan on that money if you’re thinking about leaving that way.

Just checked this AM - still the same. People with less than 15 years are half hearted given token severance and health benefits. If over 15 years, not so bad - 15 years 6 months pay, 6 months continued health care coverage. 20 plus years 9 months severance and 9 months continued health care coverage.

Search Life@Ford for SIRP - it’s all there.

What exactly do you mean? Severance for the people who left last year? I didn’t think there were any other severance packages out there aside from last year.

If you actually work at Ford, you can find the policy easily enough with a simple search on Life@Ford.
