Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Lack of accountability

It recently came to me why we have so many useless layers of management at IBM. It's less about making sure to find appropriate spots for family/friends/sycophants (although that plays a role as well) and more about blurring the lines of accountability. More layers ensure that there is minimal accountability when things don't go as planned. That's why when layoffs happen those people stay in their positions and good workers are shown the door - because various levels of management want to protect their butts.

Lack of accountability permeates every layer of IBM, not just management.

I work with great people that unfortunately make a lot of crummy decisions. When we all experience the consequences of those crummy decisions.... we just brush everything under the rug and continue to make similar crummy decisions.

Left at the end of 2020, cashed out all my vacation days. All my close friends got resourced (age discrimination) so there was no reason to stay. My mgt team were dishonest. Would sc--w other groups in IBM in hopes of making their numbers while I had to deal with all the complaints and got my bonus plan taken away. NO INTEGRITY what so ever!!! Goodbye and good luck to those who remain.

IBM is a useless company to work for… management is like a bunch of prostitutes working the streets.

I left back in December after cashing in my 401K match. So long…

Nothing new or unique to IBM. Start playing the game.. if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.
