2022 Layoffs?

Any news/rumors of a 2022 layoff to kick off the year like 2021?

It won't be Jan 20, earnings call is Jan 24.

Look for either the first or second week of Feb for the layoff.

Major layoff in 1Q 2022 is a given. IBM restructuring is ongoing, this is how IBM Execs thrive, keep their jobs and rob the company of its financial resources.

You can only update your resume and always be looking for your next opportunity elsewhere.

Given AK’s focus on making Redhat payoff, and Ginni’s previous two paid for consulting plans (Bain and McKinsey) ready for execution, expect IBM’s 2022 restructuring to accelerate quickly. IBM has already allocated 1 billion for 2022, and if more is needed, IBM has a history of taking their bad news during earnings announcements to muddy the results. That makes Jan 24th a very interesting day

1dnk Unless the 95% is all going to India, your BRIC prediction is just not going to happen. Brazil = runaway inflation and lack of political stability. Russia = really?? It’s Brazil on steroids China = again really, given their current clamp downs. The 15/7.5/7.5/70 prediction is very very close

@1mll you’re way off. The ultimate target is 95% BRIC countries, 5% Western countries. Already GBS is >40% based in India. Thing is, it’s no easier for IBM to hire in India than in the West. The horrible reputation and garbage pay is a global trend, and Indian salaries are going way up. This is why you are starting to see a lot of expansion into Africa (SA and Egypt namely).

IBM’s ultimate goal is
15% worldwide head count in NA

  1. 5% in Europe
  2. 5% rest of the world

70% India

Now that you know the percentages, you just have to estimate IBM’s worldwide headcount. Right now it’s 225k, ultimately moving to 180k

Layoffs are coming. Not everyone is going to move to India.
