How would the new company (Riverbed Aternity) recruit or retain people with their trust and integrity burnt to the ground? Also why would any self respecting enterprise or government customer renew their business with a questionable entity?
Layoff may happen eventually but an exodus is much more likely short term.

If you joined riverbed with the past year I seriously question your market value and judgment
Does selling off Riverbed/Aternity terminate active projects Fed has in place today? Or will this work continue after Riverbed is sold off?
This snake bit company will now reduce head count to drive down expenses before they sell off what's left of the IP. Apollo is a death Star.
Absolutely yes
During the RIF when Aternity was spun out, I can assure you people under a year were let go.
With past layoffs different departments used different criteria to make decisions but yes, many folks with less Riverbed time were let go (I remember one being onboard only a month).
With new management/ownerships comes new rules/guidelines so anything goes going forward in any case.
Yes--I have seen it happen... and that was years ago. The situation is more dire now so I would guess all bets are off.
I’ve been at Riverbed for awhile and have not seen that happen. But it’s not to say it won’t happen because it has a short leash from the owners (ie Apollo).
Nobody's special so yes. I suggest to proactively look for something else anyway. The market is good, don't let the uncertainty of job employment hang over you.
How often does it happen?
