We have people stealing two or three times a day and now have to be on weekly calls about getting ready for inventory in January. We can't even fill our picks since so much stuff has been stolen, our loss is gonna be big.

Stealing has become a concern in my store as well. That's why I pulled here this post from thread +1e2xe36o. Isn't it possible for Macy's to do something more to prevent theft from happening?

Don’t worry JG can “replace the inventory “😂
I talked to a store Fulfillment Associate and mentioned they had a problem with some picks as they couldn’t find the merchandise. Need to get back to having better security and the poster who mentioned elected officials is right. You really do need to pay attention to what is being done in your state. Some areas are ridiculously lenient and really needs to change. I hate talking politics but something needs to be done. Macy’s can’t keep letting merchandise walk out the door and expect to survive it will add up over time. Caldor if you remember former retailer in my area had a huge theft issue and eventually went out of business.
At my location not only did the thieves go into an “associates only” door that leads into a fixture storage area but also is the access to the display windows. Wiped out everything that was in the window! 🤯
Theft is so bad at out store that we can't find a lot of the items for picks. They just come in and shop for a while and them walk out the door without even looking at anyone. We get in front of them and they just walk around, load up their car, and go home. Who needs a job when you can just shoplift a couple grand worth of stuff a day from Macy's.
Our store doesn't have AP, not sure how many other stores don't have any security but as a sales manager we can't stop anyone. They come into our store everyday, sometimes the same people two or three times a day, load up and walk out past us while they are laughing. It used to upset us, but now we ignore them. The company has all these open jobs but can't afford to put AP in our store, Macy's doesn't care - why should we.
There are no consequences for people stealing in most states. I blame bad policy making from our local elected leaders. Educate yourself before voting
Work in AP and can tell you that Macy's is so worried about the rights of shoplifters that it fires AP detectives anytime a shoplifter makes a scene and starts screaming about being profiled. Nobody makes stops anymore, we just try to scare them into dropping the merchandise, they laugh and walk past us. Not worth risking it.
Macys will not be able to sell through the shrink like a Home Depot cam either.
