Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

Could there be big changes coming?

I heard the SVP of HR “JG” is no longer with the company. There’s supposed to be an announcement made on Monday. I know of at least one other executive departure, so I’m wondering if we are in for another round of reorganization. Does anyone have some insight?

As for the other comment, the new hr leader isn’t reporting to the ceo. That position reportes into the cao who reports to the ceo. Weird that the hr leader does not report to the head guy. What does that say about how he trusts hr? Odd. Holding hr at arm’s length.

Based on who replaced JG, we can say another willing apparatchik has been promoted to report to the CEO. And the hits keep on coming.

There was a teeny tiny header in the blue news 11/01/2021 with very little info for JG, but a bunch more power play shifts in it.

JG was here less than a year. Yes his HCSC website leadership page is gone.

He missed a year by only a few weeks. My speculation is that he had some contractual kickers come into play after the first year and since he wasn't beloved by the CEO he was fired.

That man was here just shy of a year. Good golly. Maybe he was getting sick of the shenanigans going on with other people at the top of the company? Either way it look bad for other leaders. A mess. As for the other posts, I know 240 hours doesn’t seem like a lot but if you multiply it times many people being laid off the cost of PTO payouts as part of severance adds up. Few companies had what this company did. They had to change the PTO program eventually because it wasn’t good for the company.

Could you share the position of the other executive you think left the company? Also, for the other commenter, PTO accrual is capped at 240 hours for those with the most service time, not sure I’d call that “huge.” Vacation time, personal illness, partner illness, elder care, child care, all place a lot of pressure on PTO time.

I haven't heard anything specific. That being said, the PTO accrual changes going into effect in 2022 are designed to make it more cost effective to shed staff. They don't want to be paying out for huge amounts of accrued PTO, hence why they are limiting rollover and reclassifying some as Diversity Days, which aren't paid out if you quit, get fired, laid off, etc.

JG's HCSC leadership page is gone. He is thus gone.
