Everyone made sacrifices. We lost colleagues, our 401ks suffered, we forfeited raises, and we took all the extra work.
And now we get to reap the results, right?
I mean we now get RSUs, we get approved extra comp and bonuses, and we capitalize on the share buybacks .. wait a minute . .. oh, only Darren??
What! Not everyone?
Just the one that was making 20 million gets paid?

Ehm.. I guess he sacrificed the most and really deserves it. Hero.
¯_(ツ)_/¯

@qfo+1dz0vc16, yes sure, Kool-Aid, like Guinness, is good for you and your cck sukers likes. It helps dilute the aftertaste you may experience after you're done with your (blow) job. But at least you have some humour, so the jury the jury grants you mitigating circumstances... :D

@g-p+1dz0vc16 Fully agreed. What's the point of margin improvement initiatives when they are not even significant enough compared to crude oil price fluctuations?

There's nothing surprising actually with those results. It's a purely mechanical move. Likewise, temperature goes up when the Sun rises and goes down when it sets.
The fundamental flaws in the company organisation, culture and long term strategy that have been exposed during the peak of the pandemic are still there. I love this quote by Warren Buffett: “Only when the tide goes out do you discover who's been swimming na--d.” We've all seen that EM didn't wear any bathing suit. Now that the tide is high again, things are covered up but the “dividend aristocrat”, like the king, is still na--d.
Only good thing we may hope for, as employees, is that this will soothe the anxiety crisis of the Irving folks and it will refrain them from making decisions in “panic mode”.

Wait a second… this is actual good news for xom on a layoff site. OP - don’t you know this site is patrolled by pathetic and entitled losers that have no tolerance for good news attributed to their employer? This post needs to come down immediately and be replaced with a rumor about pip % or layoff.

The most critical learning this last cycle is that leadership now fully understands they do not need overpaid engineers to make money. They just need to cut costs and ride the commodity price waves up and down. No amount of planning and technology is going to prepare the company for dual black swan events so why bother trying. Just make sure oil stays pumping, the refineries up, the crackers stay on, and plants stay running. Everyone else is unnecessary cost

These results make me feel so much better about working in this toxic culture and being abused by XOM management.
