Oct 27th- a 57 year old Conductor with 6 months experience injured seriously. Again, was in foul when train shoved into him. Didn't another guy with less than a month marked up just get his arm ripped off earlier in the week? And they want to train new guys for 45 days and mark up!!!?

I agree if you lose your job when you are older you should have to work at walmart or mcdonalds , god forbid you should want a job that pays more than minium wage ,
I dont wish bad luck on anyone but just remember what you said if you lose your job when your older , karma's a bi--h
I don’t care how old someone is. He doesn’t deserve to have his leg cut off. Was he in the foul I’m sure. Want to know how you stop that? If you are working a track the tracks that are best to you need to be put out of service. It’s not that hard to figure out
Operating ratio is #1. Shareholder record profits are #2. Safety only will start to matter again if it effects #1 or#2.
I worked with several people that got hired in their late 50s. One guy worked at a plant that closed. He got laid off but still had about 10 more years until he could collect his pension. when you are over fifty you can't be picky, so he took a job with the railroad. still sucks about this guy losing his leg though. i hope he makes out alright. safety used to be number one. i guess those days are gone.
Had to be a rail buff hire at 57- that and how desperate do they look hiring someone who should be retiring soon anyways!
I would think that a person who needed a job at 56 or 57 years of age applied and got the job.
Absolutely, by crook or hook they will not rest until they get their one man crew with a roving ground member ( not a conductor) that job will be eliminated
He might have been 56 when he hired on.
Who hires for the railroad at 57? Jesus christ
How many countless lives have been ruined by this company?
Columbia sc had one get leg cut off above ankle this week! Just think how bad it will be if they go to one man crews if they cant do it safely with two men.
