I think the question is if Ford will mandate them in December near the deadline.

As for getting the vaccine for Covid, I fully respect the individual’s right to make that decision on their own. No arguments from me!

This disease (is not influenza as we know it from the past) is not going away and will continue to mutate and be around for a number of years to come. Those who chose not to be vaccinated will eventually get sick, if not now or in the fall, it will be in the future waves to come. By choosing not to get vaccinated you are benefiting the rest of us by volunteering to be sort of Covid 19 lab rats, helping clinicians to develop vaccines to fight the upcoming mutation of the Covid strains ahead. Given todays stats in Michigan, about 2% of the people who chose to not get vaccinated will die.

Sorry, but I am grateful there are people who will make that sacrifice to keep the rest of us heathy in the years to come.

Why all the down votes on pointing out why mandating vax's for everyone is just plain out dum-dum due to multiple animal reservoirs? Vax's should be freely & widely available to those who are risk, and for those want them (in particular if interacting with those at risk), and not forced on anyone.

@snd+1dyBsoMj - not only does the efficiency seem to wane, I'm not sure that even 100% vaccination would be enough to suppress c19 to the point that it's no longer a concern since it's been observed to infect animals and will be able to mutate in that reservoir. It's been detected in:

• bats - where it allegedly originated, and we'll leave that can of worms alone

It might not be major issues in those populations, but remember it was entirely a non-issue for humans 2 - 2 1/2 years ago. If we did manage to totally stop it in the human population the evolutionary pressure will be for it to mutate in the animal reservoir.

I have to believe a big dilemma is the fact that shots, or being what is called “fully vaccinated” will not alone make the workplace safe. Vaccine efficacy wanes, so unless we’re all signed up to a booster regimen, we default to a level playing field. I don’t see how you can be more any more comfortable returning to work post-mandate.

Can or will Ford really set aside self-attestation, masks, and social distancing moving forward? I’m not going to feel good about having taken the shot if these protocols persist. The shots were intended to slow the spread. When’s the last time you’ve seen one of those charts? Have we reached herd immunity? Do enough of us have to actually contract the virus to reach herd immunity? We simply haven’t been told. Any why?

I fear we’re just being forced to accept this kick the can down the road approach. Covid will likely be with us for years to come. Shots are an effective strategy and a game changer for at-risk individuals, but they’re not the end-all for everyone and everything. We need to wake up so we can accept and adopt strategies that actually offer a tangible benefit to us all in lieu of pitting vaxed versus the unvaxed. Ford tells us to be data-driven in our decision making. Let’s see if Ford puts into practice what they preach!

I have had this question on my mind for many weeks too. I think they are simply seeing where public opinion will be. Throw in a couple of exec level folks who are anti-jab and it gets messy. I am super happy that some groups are rejecting the jab such as the pilots and law enforcement groups.

The other factor is the self certification. Only they know how many people are anti jab. Either the numbers are small and safe to cut lose or there are a lot of people who have no plans on the jab.

With Billy's co---e / socialist stance on the world, I am actually surprised they have not enforced the vax.

There is also the fact that there is NO LAW on the books for companies to enforce a vax. OSHA is not enforceable and there are simply no other mandates from the Govt which FORCE companies to require the jab.

I believe Ford will comply with a Federal V*x mandate, but as of yet, that mandate has not been issued by OSHA and I'm not 100% certain it ever will be.

Does Osha have jurisdiction over the WFH employee? How will they ever control and / or monitor the up to date vax status of not just Ford direct, but agency, purchased service, and consultants / contractors? They can try to mandate it, but I'm not sure how they could legally terminate workers who work from home. FWIW, the EPLM VP told his organization no one would be terminated for not getting vaxxed.
