To those who get their "science" from Qanon, Breitbart, and Hannity, here are some facts:
- 90 to 95 percent of those dying from COVID are unvaccinated
- 90 to 95 percent of those in the ICUs because of COVID are unvaccinated
- Regions that have lower vaccinations rates have ICUs that are overwhelmed and people are dying unnecessarily.
- Masks greatly help slow the spread of transmission of virus borne illnesses such as Covid. This is especially true of K95 and surgical masks
- The unvaccinated are running up hundreds of billions of unnecessary medical costs to the American public (Medicare, Medicaid) and employers
- You have the freedom to remain unvaccinated. Your employer has the right to terminate your employment at will.

Over 90% have attested to being vaccinated- that is not actual vaccination unless CF requires proof then we will have the actual numbers. I do not carry insurance with CF so my records are not in their databases. So the real question is - how many attested that didn’t actually get the jab? Also a friend told me you can buy the vax passports online. Is that true?

By look it up I would venture that if you got a Polio vaccine you didn’t get Polio. Do you want to talk about the fact that you can still GET and TRANSMIT Covid after you’re vaccinated. Awesome. We now know that at the very least, 90% of CF is jabbed. Let's see how many associates STILL contract covid. If it's anything like Ireland (or Israel as someone mentioned), it's going to be a lot. Then what are we supposed to do? Get boosters? Vaccines are supposed to confer long immunity. A booster shot every few months is insanity.

If what BP said was true in his email today the company let go just 1% of its workforce due to the vaccine requirement which means we can count on two hands how many people decided this wasn’t for them.

Definitely don't want anyone to die but, the lack of critical thinking that comes with people who are resisting this mandate really makes me glad they won't be a part of the organization after today.
At the end of the day, as CareFirst employees, we are all (largely) covered by CareFirst insurance. These are not the people I want making decisions on what medical services should be covered or not. If I can't trust them to make the right decision on getting vaccinated, how can I expect them to make the right decision on anything else that would impact my own healthcare?

Polio, measles and mumps vaccines prevent these diseases. Covid vaccine does not.
I wonder how many who are anti-vaccine have had polio, tetanus, or Measles, mumps, rubella shots when they were kids? No issues with those? Polio still might be a raging disease yet was essentially eradicated in the US due to a successful vaccination program without people whining and bi-----g. They did it in the public interest. Ask your kid what polio is: they won’t know for good reason: people did what was right. Today’s difference: too much of a snowflake attitude present.
Like polio, I hope the next generation of kids can ask the question “what is coronavirus?”.
This is an individuals decision! Whenever you have to make a decision you weigh all the facts and information to make the best educated decision. The fact is we do not trust the government, CDC, NIH, Johns Hopkins, or CF. Why, the targets keep changing, statement contradicting their own and each others. Actions of these entities are inconsistent and tactics to deliver their messages are ethically questionable. There is no consideration for herd immunity or alternative therapy or clear discussion of both sides.
What do we know:
- Vaccines do reduce the risk of severe illness and death. Proven.
- Vaccines have lose effectiveness after a few months needing boosters every 6 months. Proven.
- No one knows the long term effects of mRNA or repeated boosters. Unknow. mRNA does not provide antibodies for long term protection or why the boosters? Proven.
- Mandating Vaccines violates our rights for personal privacy and our Bill of Rights.
- Using a mandate as leverage for your job to meet administration goals is certainly a legal argument. To be seen.
So get the vaccine if you are concerned about your individual risk of severe illness or death. If you already have the vaccine you are covered from vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals who could pass it to you. Test us weekly, but stay out of our individual rights to work as Americans.

It is understandable to be sympathetic towards individuals who are concerned with the possible side effects of new vaccines, especially ones that were developed and tested quickly under such ominous circumstances like a worldwide pandemic due to a new virus. Everyone has been dealing with the unknowns of this pandemic and that makes it difficult for individuals to be comfortable if they’re not sure what’s the next problem right around the corner. However, all of the major U.S. players involved in fighting Covid, the CDC, NIH, Johns Hopkins, etc. have all indicated that these vaccines, along with PPE and social protocols, are the best and most effective ways to not only fight, but also contain this deadly virus.
Let’s face it, this pandemic is a public health crisis and has to be addressed as such. This means that local governments have to implement stringent, yet temporary, laws for its citizens to follow to prevent an acute spreading of the virus to its entire population. Healthcare companies such as CareFirst have an obligation not only to its employees, but to their subscribers and members as well to ensure it can continue operating and providing critical healthcare services throughout its coverage area for the duration of the pandemic. One way to do this is by helping its employees avoid contracting Covid by getting vaccinated.
It seems from the many opinions posted here that quite a few CF associates do not agree with a vaccine mandate being imposed on them. As it was already pointed out on this thread, CF is a private company and Maryland is an at-will employment state, so there really isn’t a whole lot of leverage associates will have if they defy, even en masse, this mandate. Terminating an associate who refused to follow the company policy for a Covid vaccine will not be an illegal firing. The SCOTUS just ruled yesterday to uphold a law in Maine requiring healthcare workers there to be vaccinated without offering religious exemptions. Unfortunately, the law does not appear to be on the side of CF associates who will not abide by the company rule to be vaccinated. Ultimately, it will come down to an individual’s decision: meet the vaccine mandate or face the consequences.
I am amazed by number of sheep that just accept the decisions of the administration and business leaders who just want to hold you hostage. Your job or inject the vaccine they now find to be ineffective and requiring boosters every few months. Completely discarding other therapy's, treatment or periodic weekly testing. Dictatorship? The real problem is the ones holding out understand the manipulation, deceit, leverage, and the reporting of news that only supports, so called leadership, decisions. One shot, second shot, shot every 6 months for how long? Notice how the reporting of those vaccinated get the virus and can pass it to anyone is completely ignored. We all know there are side effects of every medication, but why won't they just be honest with people. It's because they don't believe you know what's best for you, they want to tell you, and if you don't, well they will use leverage to get what they want, ignoring your rights. It won't stop with vaccines. Completely dismissing other therapy's and immunity sends a clear message. I am not against vaccines, just the deceit that loses trust and options to provide choice.

They'll inform you of your termination for not being compliant with corporate policy. You'll get a box to send your laptop back in. If you choose to not adhere to the company's vaccine mandate and then CF let's you go, don't go posting here about being unfairly laid off. You were FOREWARNED by CF that this could happen!
