When Rave Reviews first came out, I was excited that some of the underpaid, hard-working, worker bees would finally get some recognition. Then the first Applause Award I saw issued was from one Manager to another Manager. Pathetic.
before rave reviews we had these over-sized post-its called "kudos" which we changed to "screwdos." At one point they used to give us tokens with the rave reviews to use in the candy machines but that was found to be even more demoralizing and people kept stealing superglue from the model shop and gluing the tokens to the candy machine covering the glass. Treat creatives like dirt and they will return the favor in kind.
Does Mattel still have the "Rave Review" program to show its appreciation? You ki-l yourself on a job, then you get an "Attaboy" email from your manager or director, nothing more. Very demotivating, whoever the HR person was who came up with that should be fired with a Rave Review.
Go get a job at Spanx if you think the grass is so much greener there, they're hiring.
