I’m a grade 28 and a 20+ year employee. My responsibilities have been magnified many times over the last 2 years. I am burned out. My husband and I just finally made the decision! I hand in my two weeks tomorrow! After the recent increase in medical costs, I hope to find other opportunity elsewhere.

Grade 28 with 20 years seniority and all that was required was 2 weeks notice. I thought it was equivalent to vacation time so that would be more like 8 week?
How did you get treated in your last two weeks?
Hopefully they will walk you out and don't have to finish your 2 weeks. You will feel lighter and have a huge smile as you walk away.
Sorry, didn’t mean to come across as being insensitive. I feel incredibly grateful I was able to find another role and get ready to leave. A year ago this wasn’t possible for me either! Keep your head up and keep looking, this is a job seekers market. I hope a better commute free role pops up for you soon!
Unfortunately not everyone can just up and quit or give notice so its very frustrating to read because some of you make it sound so easy to do. I want out but cant go back to commuting that stress is more than what I have to put up with at this time. Just buying time and hoping for some changes
Same here, GL 28 manager doing the work of 2-3 people with zero room for promotion based on a top heavy org structure. I finally decided it’s time to move on. I will miss my very dedicated team but it’s time to get my life back.
Be prepared. They need tell you to leave and not to come back. I've seen it many times. Congrats!!! Life will only get better!!! <3
Congrats on the decision. I'm glad you mentioned the large increase in medical costs for 2022.
Prior to giving notice, make sure you:
- Give your favorite coworkers lots of Bravo awards.
- Cash out your Bravos.
- Take all of your PTO.
- Get any files you need from your computer.
- Get the personal cell phones of coworkers you like, and potential references.
Then, enjoy the rest of your life :)
Congrats!
