Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Time off

When is too early to use your days off after starting a new job. Asking for a total of 3 days and have been at my new role for 3-4 months and feel awkward or annoying asking for time off.

Always take your vacation, all of them! Then there is always some bench time, take advantage of that too.

Take them. They're yours. They're part of your compensation package. You wouldn't asked to be paid, would you?

Sure, tell your manager as a courtesy. Emphasis on TELL, not ask. Or if you're not that comfortable, then approach it this way: "I'd like to take off, if that's ok with you." (notice there's no question mark at the end)

I never ask to take vacation days… I just take them!

I wouldn’t feel guilty taking a week off after two months. I wouldn’t worry about your situation.
