How did it feel to pass the $100K mark in salary?

I am hoping to cross the line next year. How did it feel to pass the great $100K mark in salary?

A lot of non engineering positions start less than $100k.

I’ll never see 100k I’m a lab technician in Annandale they think I’m overpaid? Sorry bunch in management here, it’s ok for them to receive a raise. We’re doomed.

This post only applies to CANUSA employees...even as engineer in western europe you don't start with 6 figure salary...maybe only attainable when you reach mid 40s...

Wait. Someone hired in at less than $100k? My starting salary was over $100k more than ten years ago.

It’s a nice moment, but at least for me when I crossed my life didn’t change, I took the entirety of the raise and invested it. Although being able to say I make 6 figures was a bit nice lol

Side note - don’t listen to people who say “don’t chase the paycheck”. If you want to chase it because your tastes are on the finer side, go for it. Find what your number is for your tastes and life goals and chase that number. If your number happens to be low, that’s fine too.

It felt pretty good, I was in procurement and I was going to hit the number in 2008 and than things happened... Anyhow, I hit it in 2010, I still remember the day. I know people complain a lot here, which is fair, there are things that are wrong but the company was good to me, I do not have a college degree and I was still able to raise three girls, all three of them graduated college, my home is amost paid off, etc. I am not sure that i would have been able to do this at many other companies. Again, I am not putting people down and I am not truing to say that all the grief on layoff.com is not warranted, on the contrary, i know we as a company have many issues. god bless

I started at over $100k, passed $200k, then laid off back to zero, now back over $100k.

The best time honestly was spending time on unemployment with my kids. Taught my daughter to ride a bike, teaching her to play soccer, and spending time with my family. Things like that make life worth living.

Don’t chase the paycheck. Live your life without regrets. The worst experience will be to look back and think about everything you missed in the hunt for more money.

Hello All, I am your boss DW and to be honest crossing $100k didn't give me any special pleasures and neither did $35M. I was underpaid then and am underpaid now. Though being the most incompetent chief in command I will take it over getting Pipped. By the way PIP is not that bad.
