Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Poll: are you seeing key people leaving your team?

If not, why not?

The stock is down for the next several years as Intel makes large bets on fabs, so comp is not competitive.

Intel has a terrible culture relative to lots of competitors.

Management’s strategy with IDM 2.0 has an extremely low probability of success given all of the structural issues within Intel.

With no growth, young employees in the grade 6-8 range have very little opportunity to get promoted as the more senior people get first cut at the fixed revenue pie. This has a side effect of these same senior people resisting change as they see their value-add threatened, when change is exactly what is needed.

I can say that lots of key people have left my team and it’s extremely difficult to recruit quality talent as they have better opportunities elsewhere.

Now that I have left Intel for about 6 years after more than a few years at the now cesspool.

I can say it was a glorious couple decades of leadership and boy did they company create an insular and arrogant culture and entitled culture.

Now if only PTD and TMG had totally $crewed up after Youseff and Sunlin and they had executed with some small culture change with Foundry when they had undisputed leadership. But the BoD and Paul, BK, Bob, Pat succession in combination with this arrogant and insular culture is the equivalent of a giant redwood sequoia that is alone and rotted at the core with no roots. It may look imposing but after seeing what makes the ecosystem successful I can assure you Intel is finished, FuBAR

@cqhu - The quality of RCGs has been decreasing continuously for the past 7 years.
Recently, Intel gets a lot of hires from third or fourth-tier colleges and also a lot of third-world H1Bs and L1s from India, Malaysia, Mexico, Costra Rica.

In our team there are > 80% 9/10/11 grade employees including me. We run only meetings to efficiently manage 20% laborers. Nobody is leaving from us. Only attrition is 20% workers. But we find fresh college grad suckers to fill positions and they work like donkey.

Not only have talented people left, we have lost single point of failure folks that have knowledge and experience that cannot easily be replaced.
